WOW!!!!!  Sup-WW getting this much attention........... AT SUPERIOR!!!!!!!!!

Couple of things (my two cents)

Great to hear the UWSup fans are getting into basketball (even if the do act like they're coming straight over from a hockey loss).
The fans should've been removed with the garbage cans, that's excessive.
On Hill's T, the ref's never see the first thing, but always the reaction (which makes coaches mad and leads to Coach B's ejection)
The Superior team is young and playing with alot of emotion and that will make the second round of conference play extremely hard.  They need to stay focused on executing plays if they want to end there post-season drought.

We'll see if all this publicity will help draw more fans to the games as the season goes along.

I hitchhiked from Superior to Tomah once.  It was a god awful day.  I might as well have been in Timbucktoo.   All I saw was a gas station.    ;D

So, if you'e looking for places to eat in Superior, you want to go to the Anchor for hamburgers--not wine coolers or parasol drinks; VIP for pizza, although the Thirsty Pagan, formerly Twin Ports Brewery, has very good pizza and beer; Boathouse for dress-up meals, but you don't have to dress up. Gronks, which is on HWY 2 at the east edge of town (just before you hit the Holiday Station as you head west), also has good hamburgers. Eddie's has pretty good ribs. Also on the east end. When I mention "hamburgers" I'm referring to varieties: among others--olive and cream cheese, sour cream and something, mushroom and Swiss, as well as your routine burger; all pretty messy and very big. You'll be licking your arm all the way up to the elbow.

It's not that you can't find good places to eat in Superior, it's just that Duluth has a higher concentration of good places to eat.

The concession at hockey used to sell a decent hot dog, but fiscal austerity seems to have hit there and at the Health and Wellness Center; now you get minimal hot dog on shriveled up buns.

Come on guys cut him some slack.  You've no idea how hard it is for him to be ranking Stevens Point 4th.  ;)
OS, Hungary is a country.  Hungry is what you are when you crave cannoli or championships.    ;D

Nice catch on HUNGRY...and yes, it's hard for me to rank Point 4th! :'(

By they way Old School, you know that Superior is actually in the United States and not in Canada. 8)  There's bars,fast-food chains, even a shopping mall up here.  Its great. :D

I'm not convinced.  There are bars, fast-food chains and malls in Canada too!  ;D

Basically, If you want to eat anywhere nice, shop anywhere nice, or enjoy a drink in a non-smoking environment, you have to go to the United States.  You probably didn't see much when you visited Superior (Canada) last year, because there isn't much.

Some editing may have ocurred.  ::)

Having been to Superior for games on 2 occasions, I found the food at the concession stand to be very good. The popcorn comes in a large bag and is real fresh. The local Burger King was also quite nice. Enjoy the local flavor I say.

Wow, is the concession food at the game and the Burger King considered the local flavor now? Ouch!  :P

Other big news would be pre-game $1 burgers and $1 taps at The Ticket Sports Bar and Grill.  Got get my game face on before the big game you know!
Now THAT'S probably local flavor, and for a buck?  Sweet.  :o  Too bad Platteville is over 3 hours for me.

And on a totally unrelated subject:

What do these coaches have in common?

Bo Ryan
John Calipari
Mike Krzyzewski
Roy Williams
David Arsenault

The are all innovators of the game

Re:  Whitewater at Superior

Apparently everyone will have the chance to watch and judge for themselves.  FSN is playing the game tonight at 9 pm, according to the WIAC website.

I've been through Superior twice, the ratio of bars to fast food joints (or for that matter bars to anything) is pretty staggering.  No one notices in Superior, because its twice as high in Duluth.

Seeing as you decided to stop by cheesehead land Sac...

You posted this, and I replied like this... thought it might be some interesting discussion, though probably not in light of tonight's games...:

I've struggled the UW's, and once again find myself ranking them right next to each other.  I see that there's quite a wide range of difference in them, I moved UW-Platteville into my poll and debuted them rather high at #13.  Platteville's probably the only team I would consider an outlyer from my poll.......other than the usual differences in teams in the bottom of the poll.

What's interesting to me sac is the fact that UWSP, UW Whitewater, and UW Oshkosh all lost last week...  and it's interesting to note in what way they changed in the top 25 rating.

Whitewater had been at #6 with 472 votes.  Point was #7 with 461 votes.  Oshkosh was #20 with 168, and Platteville was ORV (4th team RV with 48 points).  Just for some context, Lawrence was also ORV (11th team RV with 10 points).

WW lost 99 points and 2 positions to 373 and 8th after losing to previously RV Platte.  Point lost 139 points and 5 positions dropping to 322 and 12th.  Oshkosh beat previously #7 Point, but also lost to previously RV Lawrence, stayed at #20 but lost 42 points.  Platte (beat #6 WW) gained 63 points and went from effective 26th (4th RV) to 22nd.  Lawrence beat #20 Oshkosh, gained 128 points and went from effective 26th (11th RV) to 19th.

What's amazing to me is this... apparently, the loss by Whitewater to Platteville wasn't as bad a loss as Point's to Oshkosh, even though Oshkosh had been ranked higher, and Point lost AT Oshkosh, while Platte had to go TO WW for the win.  Also, Lawrence's win against Oshkosh was better than Platteville's in against Whitewater, even though WW had been ranked 14 places ahead of Oshy.

... Now, I know that what I'm doing is along the lines of comparative scores... but it's interesting to view, nonetheless.

I don't know where my head was at, but I forgot $1 fries too.  I was so excited before...it was almost lunch time so I was really hungry.

Mr. Downtown

Good analysis PointSpecial!!

Platteville's and Lawrence's place in the Top 25 was past due, in my opinion.

I've been to Platteville many times and never once heard anything remotely to what you are talking about, Pioneer Hoops Fan.

The best part of going to Platteville from Oshkosh is driving through Madison. There, you should have no problems finding a place to eat!

Unlike between Superior and Eau Claire, where there is NOTHING!!!

By the way, how are driving conditions elsewhere. I keep watching the news showing cars in the ditches all over the Fox Valley.

Cody-1-Kastern

Mr Downtown,

I hope you and Titansrus stopped and ate at The Thorpedo in Thorp.  They have the best French Fries in the State.  Although, Curtiss Truck Stop has some pretty good food as well.  It's always a tough choice!

Over here in Connecticut driving is great but the cold spell did take the temp to around 40.

These people over here complain when the temp gets to 25 and I have yet to really bundle up
You are only as good as the people around you.

Mr. Downtown

Never been to Thorp.

One place I do like to go is in Osseo, at Almost World Famous Moe's. It's 50-60's retro dinner where they make the cherry in Cherry Coke and a Chubby Checker and Cheese curds is the best thing on the menu.

They also have a rooster in the parking lot. Don't know what that's all about.

You know, it would be fun to list all the best places to visit for the WIAC cities. Would really help out the travelers.

Yeah -- re: Lawrence, it's just tough to get a good read on a team that has played just 11 games eight weeks into the season.
