So cubs, why is the WIAC allowing Whitewater to have lights?
I'm sure any school that wants lights and has the financial resources can put them up.....  They are still going to have to get the ok to schedule night games.  My guess is that WIAC games will still be scheduled in the afternoon, however Whitewater and the team they are playing will have the luxury of not having games called due to darkness, or can try and wait out rain delays a little longer.

If Boston can have a huge wall in left field, Fort Atkinson can have a tree hugging the foul line.  ;D :D

Yeah, and Minute Maid Park (?) in Houston has a pole in the outfield with an odd imbankment...uh?  Talking about stupid.

I don't know about playing WIAC games at night but one of the reasons for adding lights is to be able to bid for NCAA regionals.   Evidently you have to have them to be able to host.   Which is probably a reason Stevens Point has hosted in Wisconsin Rapids rather than on their campus facility.

Of course the WIAC has been playing night games in the conference tournament for some time and nobody seems overly concerned about the difference in picking up a ball out of the pitcher's hand.

Because there isn't a team playing their WIAC games under lights right now....  Nobody has an advantage, becuase all WIAC regular season games are played with a 12:00 or 1:00 start.

I have a question for the Whitewater folks, is the status for Rob Perry been updated recently?
Will he be able to play again this year, and for the sake of my fantasy basketball team tomorrow , can he play against Platteville? (I know the answer to that question, it's just a fool's hope)

Lastest from Rob is that he is "hoping" to play vrs Oshkosh. However on Sat.  Miller said he was done for the year.

That means that Wrigley serves two varieties of crappy mass-produced swill, whereas the Cell only serves one variety of crappy mass-produced swill. A pretty dubious victory, but on behalf of Cubs fans I'll take it. ;)

As Dennis Miller once said, "Two of **** is ****. If they really wanted to screw you they'd give you three of these things."

Glad we are taking a semi-break from basketball talk and discussing a REAL sport! :D

I caught a White Sox/Tigers game a few years ago and you couldn't pay me to return to that crappy baseball venue.  It is sterile and lifeless except for the thousands of total drunks carousing belligerently.

On a more humorous note, I once attended a Cubs/Cardinals game in Wrigley.  Leaving the stadium after another Cubs loss, I heard a Cardinals fan proclaim arrogantly (but not incorrectly) that people had been born, had productive lives, and died since the Cubs won anything important.  I asked him if he lived in St. Louis.  He said f"Absolutely."  I said "I live in La Crosse.  You drink our sewage." :D

I've used that same line on Cardinals fans. "There's a reason why we reversed the flow of the Chicago River in 1900. We wanted Cardinals fans to enjoy our sewage every time that they turned on their taps."

Just asking, what is a few years ago? Cause if it is like...4-5 years ago, then yeah, of course it sucked because both teams were average at best.

The best part of US Cellular is the 2005 World Championship banner  ;D :D

A couple of years ago I initiated my quest to attend a major league baseball game in every park.  I've been to eight so far (Twin, Brewer, Royal, Cardinal, Phillie, Oriole,  Cub and Sox).   US Cellular was my second least favorite.   It's nothing but concrete and blue plastic.   Of course the HumpDump is hands down the worst stadium in MLB so it's nicer than that.  Kaufmann Stadium is nothing to get excited about but it, at least, has grassy areas and the fountains.  Though the staff at Kaufmann wear uniforms that look to be from the 1960's.

This summer I'm hoping to get to Detroit, Cleveland and perhaps Cinncinnati.

In 2010, my buddy and I planning on flying into Seattle, drive south down the coast, hit every major league park and a few minor league ones on the way, and fly out of San Diego.

US Cellular is not the greatest stadium in the world, I know that.

But you go to your favorite baseball team's games not for the stadium, but for rooting your team.

I think there are many Cubs (and Brewers fans for that matter) that go to games because of the stadium, not because of the game.

Isn't that why they are called the "Love able Losers"? Nice stadium, nice uni's, bad (or underachiving) team?

Plus, its hard to have anything nice on the South Side of Chicago.

Mr. Downtown

Anyways, back to basketball.

I saw a lot of people having 3 or 4's next to the Point/EC game tonight. That's a lot of confidence for a team that only scored 57 points, on there home court against the Blugolds (I know, EC only scored 44. Generally though, Point lights up the scoreboard at home against there opponents).

I gave the SP/EC game 1 point in favor of EC, just because I think they will pull of the upset, but if I was convinced otherwise that Point was going to win, I still only would be one point for that game. No way would I give 3 or 4 to a road team at Zorn this season, when Platteville and Oshkosh went down, and Whitewater barely escaped.

While the spotlight is on Platteville and Whitewater tonight (and it should be), I think the Point/EC game cannot be overlooked.

Concering the Platteville/Whitewater game, I think the X-Factor player is going to be Myles McKay. If he can shut down any of the shooters, and still come close to pulling off a double/double, Whitewater will have a very good chance winning on the road.

I just think though that if there was any worse time to be ranked #2 in the country, its now for Whitewater. To enter Platteville on a Wednesday Night at Bo Ryan Court, against a team that plays as they believe that they are the best team in the WIAC, might be too much.

One thing about being ranked #2, and the rankings overall, this season is kinda resembles the NCAA College Football BCS season we just witness this year. It seems like no one wants to be #1, and that's why Whitewater is #2. Or, at the very least that's how I convince myself why Whitewater is #2.
