I wouldn't count Oshkosh out just yet.  Historically they've had some pretty good runs in the tournament.

QuoteVan Dellen said regardless of what happens in the tournament, his team has much to be proud about.  "They've come a long way," Van Dellen said.

Oh man, the "They've come a long way," quote! It just sounds like that "Hey, if we don't win this thing, its okay, we had a good season."

While its true, that they've had a good season, but Oshkosh needs more then just good seasons. We are waiting to win some championships too!

These are my thoughts for Oshkosh to make a run in the tourney: Get to the free throw line. Just attack the basket constantly. Miller should have no reason putting up more then 8 3's a game. Go back to what was working, and winning games by attacking the opposition and winning games from the charity stripe.

If they can do that, and get back what was working for them, I do think Oshkosh can make one last run.

It seems Oshkosh has a bad week, followed by a good week, and then its followed by another bad week. Let's hope that this is a good week, and they can get to the conference final.

If they can do that, then I'll be happy.

While I say this, I have a gut feeling we might have one big upset tonight. Nothing is scarier then giving Superior, La Crosse, Eau Claire, and Stout second chances in a season.

We should have 4 great games tonight.

The WIAC tourney has already started off crazy...

GAME DELAYED BY BROKEN RIM IN WARM-UPS at Platteville. Approx... 7:30 tip off.

Quote... Touche!  One of them was my wife, though.... if b.o. was a problem, then she would have said something a LONG time ago....!

It is said love is blind; perhaps it has no sense of smell, either. Or maybe no sense, at all.

And best of luck, skill and effort to all the teams playing tonight and tomorrow night.

I'm really sorry about that everyone.  I guess my two handed windmill still has plenty of punch.

I don't foresee any upsets in the next round, but--woo-hoo--the first round was inspirational.

Superior at Whitewater
Eau Claire at Point

Double bus legs for the Supe boys.

EC with a good win tonight.  They got out to a big lead (18) early on but the most impressive thing for the Golds was their ability to answer every time UWP got close.  Probst had a monster game and really picked up the slack when Beyer was on the bench with foul trouble early on.

There were some great individual performances this evening:

Probst: 11-14FG, 27pts
Shea: 17pts, 6rebs, 7as
Skemp: 21pts, 17rebs
Vernon: 19pts, 13rebs
Mane: 37pts
Culy: 7-9FG, 7-7FT, 25pts
Manor: 14pts, 11rebs, 5as
Marsh: 33pts, 13rebs

With UWP losing, the WIAC now has only 2 pool C contenders remaining: Point and UWW

Point dodged a bullet and his name is Tony Mane. Hard to believe the shots he was making, off balance runners, fall away three's, he almost willed the Eagles to an upset win. He had them ahead by 7 with just a couple of minutes to play. The Point crowd then got into the game and Pete Rortvedt made a couple of game changing plays to send it into OT. LX got up by two, but tough D on Mane by Jared Jenkins, and foul shooting at the end made the difference. Apparently there are no gimmes come tourney time, even against a team you just beat by 27 less than a week ago. Thankfully Point didn't learn the hard way as did Oshkosh and Platteville.

Man, I feel for Koebl right now. Everything he's done for the program and unable to beat Point ... then to have them by the short hairs tonight.

Oh what a night!

Looks like the last minute of the Oshkosh-Superior game was worth whatever the cost of a ticket was.

In that game, three players--both sides--accounted for  57 (UWO) and 60 (UWS) of their respective team's score. Marsh accounted for over half of his trio's points.

In Saturday's game, Hill came up huge; in tonight's game, Culy and Manor stepped up. Jake Smith has been getting progressively better and has played some outstanding games back to back to back.

Good night.
