Point at Whitewater at 7:00 pm (not 3:00) Saturday, due to SP's women victory over WW's women.

I'm not sure why it really mattered.  Do they want the Point fans to be able to listen both games?  Why didn't they just have the men's game scheduled for 7 pm to begin with and then have the women at 3 or 7, depending on if one school hosted both finals?  Seems strange to me that the outcome of the women's game would make a difference.

BTW, I know this is the men's board, but the women's game down in Whitewater was a great game...even though the Warhawk fans won't agree with the Pointer fans! lol...oh yeah, no tickets available for the men's game when I was at the women's game tonight.

Tom, not to accuse you of being a chauvinist :o, but re-read your post reversing the genders.  "Seems strange to me that the outcome of the men's game would make a difference"?  Since you CHOSE to attend the women's game, I trust you can make the connection! :D

Hey, Voice.  Thanks for the help getting Pat Miller for Sat. radio show.  I plan to ask him about that "image" of WW basketball that we have talked about.  Pat will be on at 9:35, Bob Semling at 8:35, and on the women's side, EC's Tonja Englund at 9:20.  We will also talk to Joe Vavra (Twins hitting coach) (Menomonie guy) at 9:05 as well as several area hs bb coaches.   The show airs on EC WBIZ 1400 am, WMEQ 880 am and can be streamed on WMEQ.com. Click on "Listen Live".

Women had the second game in all the double-headers this year, so if UWW had beaten Point and EC lost, then WW would have hosted both men's and women's games... thus the women would have been second.

I'm not sure why the women are at 3:00, though, to be honest, based on what I just wrote.  Oh well!

Mr. Downtown

The Commissioner likes to be at both games to present the Championship trophy.

One reason why one game is at 3pm, and one is at 7pm. To allow the WIAC and the host schools proper  to present the Trophy and various things. Then again, I don't know how long it takes to go from Eau Claire to Whitewater, but something tells me it would be longer then a couple of hours.

Also, for media sake, you don't want two championship games happening at the same time.

Plus, the women's NCAA selections are released before the Men's on Monday. So maybe some pressure to have the Women's Championship results in earlier, rather than later?

Pat Coleman

Doesn't matter what time you play on Saturday since about 8-10 leagues now feel it's important to play on Sunday.

I would've said it that way had the men's semi-final game been played AFTER the women's semi-final game.  But, since it was the other way around, that's why I wondered why the WOMEN'S outcome would make a difference!  ;)

Any Pointer posters or lurkers coming down for the game tomorrow evening?  I'm sure we might have gotten more if it was an early game so all you old people could get back to Point at a decent hour! lol...

Anyway, maybe we can all meet up in Whitewater for a pre-game meal!

Hey BW or Stormy,

Where's a good "local" spot to eat?  I can choke down McDonald's anytime, anywhere.  Where's a good Whitewater spot?

Rick's Eastside Pub (the owner is a big UWW supporter and a really great guy)....where the UWW boosters meet after some of the games. Great food, good prices and the beer is good too. 561 E Milwaukee St Whitewater. Coming from the west, follow Main St through the downtown area and then the road curves to the right and becomes Milwaukee St. Rick's is behind Acorn Beverage just past an Ice Cream/Sandwich place. It's on the right side of the street as you are driving west to east. Here's the phone number in case you get lost...(262) 473-9879.  ENJOY

Good interview with Pat Miller on WMEQ, sounds like Goodwin playing tonight is unlikely.

Pointer fan:  Yeah, I'll have a double baco cheese burger.

Cashier [yelling order to the back]:  Double baco cheese burger...it's for a Pointer fan.

Pointer fan:  Why did you say that?  You gonna spit in it now?

Cashier:  No, I'm just gonna make it extra special.

Tonight's game is sold out, correct? I was going to come down from Milwaukee to take a peek but looks like I'll have to rely on some of you guys for a real recap.

My wife and I are coming down, but we're going to get here about 6:00-6:30, not enough time for dinner.

Sold out?  If this is true, then I'll have to use some of my pull for some tickets...

I just checked witrh the school and was told that there are plenty of seats left. They said you could buy tickets at the door.
You can call (262) 472-1011 and asked to be transfered to the University Center Information Services and they can help you. We don't want the stands 1/2 full because of the wrong info getting out.

My heart skipped a beat there.  I would've been REALLY UPSET if that was true since I was down there on Thursday for the women's semi final game and I couldn't get tickets for tonight's game yet.

Edit:  On second thought, I guess I would find that hard to believe since when they hosted that 4-team "regional" a couple of years ago, there were plenty of fans dressed as empty seats...that surprised me.  That included well-traveling Illinois Wesleyan fans and Carroll fans, from nearby Waukesha.  I still believe if it was a 3 pm game, more fans would come...hopefully I'm wrong.
