Can anyone tell me how the game tonight between Loras and UWW is going to stack up?

BRING HOME...the women are already home.  :D

That's using my UWSP reading skills... there was a REASON I was a math major.  I thought you were wishing the Pointers and Warhawks good luck.  But that wouldn't do either, because WW's home anyway!

I agree, bring home TWO wins!

Well, it's less than 3 hours to game time and I've been pretty quiet regarding the Pointers.  I'm very cautious about this weekend's games and this whole tourney for the Pointers.  I think last year's disappointment has a big effect on my expectations this year.  Point looked so good last year, losing to one D3 school until getting smoked by a deserving Washington U. team.  I really thought we had the tools last year.  So, going into this post season, I'm purposely having pessimistic expectations.  We're on the road and St. Thomas can be a tough place to play.  I know Point has won in hostile territory this year as well as in past tourneys, but I'm not gonna get too excited.  The injury to Pete Rortvedt is really going to hurt the Pointers, not only because of his 3-pt shooting, but his rebounding has been great lately, as well as the "hustle" stuff he does.  I hope someone steps up big time this weekend.

Good luck to both Pointer teams...as I'll be in Whitewater watching the games there while eagerly awaiting multiple text messages from St. Thomas! lol.

Since I can't see my LU squad and will have to rely on frequent text messages from Old School, I'm excited about the Point Chicago game tonight.  I think it will be a good one.  With Rortvedt out, they will have to struggle, but I do see them pulling this out. Should be an interesting game...at least I hope or its going to be a long 2 hours sitting through it wondering how lawrence is doing...

I've been quiet about this too, not because I was worried, but because I knew on Monday that Pete was probably going to be out... There's nothing I would have loved more than for teams to spend all tons of time preparing for him, and have all that time be for naught.  Oh well.

Point is going to need to play well to win.  They don't need to play perfectly.  They need to play hard, they need to play smart, but it isn't the end of the world if there's a mistake or two.  This team has been through a lot the last couple of years with a team that has stayed largely intact over the past few years.  They just need to do what they do, and then good things will happen.  Good luck Pointers!

Well....... they were down 17-0 to start the game and came back to win.

UWW loses on a 3-point shot by Loras with 15sec left.  UWW led almost the entire 2nd half.

It was looking like the WIAC (both men and women) was going to go 5-0 tonight.  They had a 3-0 lead with Point women and UWW men playing on their home courts in the late games.  Both those home teams lost.

ScheckDiesel

That was brutal.... WW had no offense against the 3-2 D Loras threw at them... last play, didnt get a solid shot... couldnt stop #32...

uww4ever

here's how you beat whitewater (rest of the wiac listen up).  Tell your big 6 ft 4 guards to dribble penetrate cuz the weak side d is soft.  Dribble to the hole and get some glass.  bump our small guards, because they will only come back and finess you.

it did work sometimes, WW was 9 of 11 from 3 (goodwin hit 5 i believe).  but no help side defense.  Pat Miller should have developed some more guards, cuz goodwin and mckay were tired in the second half.  I give them props for how physical and in your face they are, but that can only last for so long.

kolinske ends his career w/ a turnover and a "no hands up" on that three pointer by kyle something or other.  it was a "thread the needle" to mckay on the baseline, would have been a sweet pass and easy layup had it been made.  dumb play, but koske almost nailed a 25 footer like that kid from loras.  I don't see them going beyond much further.

Wheaton was decent, a 6ft8 beast inside...heard his name throughout (Wiele) from St. Louis.  Neither 4 teams were very impressive tonight.  Not like that Weslyan team a couple years ago (a real complete team that was).

We relied too much on Goodwin tonight to drain the big shots.  Vernon yelped out as Koskie's shot rang out of the rim (thought it was good).  Now I wasted 11 bucks on chairback seat for tomorrow's thriller.  Wheaton went to OT so they should be tired, but you never know.  Loras...congrats.  Way to take it too us and make the adjustment to beat us (finess vs. dribble drive and bumping... I take bumping).

Good luck to King, Kolinske, Taylor, and others who were seniors.  A lot of alumns around tonight.  Did they ever graduate????

buf

Granted, I didn't watch it (listened to most of 2nd half), but UWW did shoot 52% from the floor.  If anything was brutal, it was the defense that gave up 60% shooting.

BoBo

They got away with it last week against Point, but not tonite.
