Actually, fast breaking style basketball was traditionally considered "ghetto" ball.  Old school coaches like Hank Iba preferred the half court game.

Are you just making a statement, or is there another point that I'm missing?

Making a point.  People are referring to the slow, banging modern NBA game as ghetto ball.  I'm providing some historical perspective.

Actually, I think we're saying the NBA image is ghetto ball (or hip hop)...not the game itself.  It may be more streetball, with all the cross over dribbles and one v ones...though there is some good basketball being played in the league.  I'm still trying to decide what kind of basketball the Bucks are trying to play, besides BAD basketball! lol

I digress.

D1 has all four #1 seeds advancing. Winona State won D2, after being down some 16 points at the break (somewhere around there)...they also beat the two undefeated co-#1s to get there.  And just think, St. Thomas beat them at their place!  I think I remember someone mentioning that! lol

Badger hockey shows they deserved a bid despite a losing record, winning yesterday and then falling in OT to North Dakota, 3-2, this after leading 2-0 after two periods.  I guess that's your sports update...oh yeah, baseball season opens today and I've got tickets to Saturday's game at Miller Park!  Wahoo!

I guess that's your non-D3 sports update.

Looks like some of the Badger players already have plans in case of an early exit again this season......

One would think that there would be a pretty good amount of former WIAC players involved as well.
Uh, isn't that going on this weekend?

Not to take away from their great win but Winona was down 12 at the break.  They had been down 16 earlier but a Quincy Henderson three pointer as half ended closed the gap to 12 and set the stage for what was a really great second half.

The BADGERS surrendered two goals in less than a minute in the third period.  An ugly stretch of what was otherwise 59 minutes of solid defense and just enough offense to get away with it.   The way the season has gone it figures that this is the way it would end.   BADGERS finish with a losing season record.   There's a lot of talent on the team but I don't understand hockey well enough to have an idea as to why they didn't win more.

Oh well, hockey is ok but I'd even take NBA basketball over it.  My CELTICS bought themselves a really good team and, barring the unforseen, the best record in the NBA.  Suddenly I'm finding myself more interested in the game which generally speaking I'm not that crazy about.    Funny how winning does that. :D

Good point, BWH.  I must admit that following the Pistons the last few years has been relatively enjoyable!

BW, I'm not an expert by any stretch, but from my view, the Badgers have a lot of young, raw talent.  Something like 18 out of their 27 man roster is either Freshman or Soph's.  Moulding them into a championship-level team in a talent-rich league such as the WCHA is a difficult task. Many of the teams have that problem, however, not just UW. Difficult when the NHL raids your underclassmen after a year or two and you have to replace them.  UW has lost a lot of very good players recently.  Goaltending is also an issue.  Connelly just isn't up to recent (Elliot, Bruckler) standards in the Badger net. They have another top-flight recruiting class coming in next year, so if they are able to hang on to the top guys (Turris, McBain, Smith, etc), they will be very competitive next year and one of the favorites.  BTW, only 1 WCHA team is in the Frozen Four this year.  I guess the NCAA likes it that way.

Though they picked SIX and there was a possibility that it could've been an All-WCHA Final Four.  Three were split up in different regions and the other three were all in the Midwest Region...of course, 4 of the 6 fell in the first round.

What, you think the NCAA made the WCHA teams throw games?  Get real.
