If we let everyone into the tournament, why bother with a conference season?  Just let everybody get a bunch of nonconference games and then have the tournament.

Under that argument, then why have a tournament at all?

Now you're talking. The regular season is a joke as it is now. The whole season rides on the conference tournament most years. Down with the conference tournament!!!
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

IMO the main reason we have the conference tournament is because there are more programs who feel that they do not have a consistant chance at winning the regular season title than there are programs who feel they do.   They want a second chance so when it comes to a vote they prevail.   I know for certain, unless they have recently changed their opinion, that our staff would just as soon see it end and I've been told there are a couple of others who feel the same way.

I like the thought that all teams play in the tourny but there is some drama at the end of the season when you have two teams trying to get the 8th spot.  The bigger issue for me is why do they not play the semi's and finals on a friday and saturday at a nuetral site in one of wisconsins bigger cities.  Money cannot be the only reason, I would make plans to come back and watch no matter what teams are in it.

It might be beating a dead horse but it just seems to make to much sense, many conferences are making the change.

Greek Tragedy

With 8 or 9 teams in the conference tourney, the regular season becomes a 16-game grind to get the best seed...I think going to 6 teams is going into the right direction, but I still feel 4 is the best bet, with Fri/Sat at highest seed.

Attendence is the main reason, IMO, that all the higher seeds host.

Honestly, I doubt that.  You are in the Appleton area, right?  You're telling me you'll drive up to Stout to see Whitewater v Superior and Stevens Point v La Crosse?  I don't believe you'd make the trip up there.

I may not even make the trip up there, and you know me!  If Stout played, you'd probably go up, but I think all of us "diehard" fans are over-estimating how many casual or diehard fans would go to their local gym to watch four teams not named "their" team.

Sorry about that John! lol...I know Jacob is in that area, but forget which handle each of you are.  I went to high school with these twin girls, Shawn and Sonja...I was in their classes for four years and still couldn't figure out which one was which...at least you two look different enough I can tell...

Anyway, you living out on the East Coast makes my point even more valid!  Like you're flying in! lol...on the same note, I don't think Jacob is coming up to Menomonie either, unless Stout was playing.

Hope all is well out on the East coast.

I knew a couple of identical twin girls when I was in my twenties.  We hung out in the same crowd for a couple of years, and I got where I could tell them apart.

Sadly, one of them died a few years ago.

Rumor has it, that Coach Koelbl has his best recruiting class ever this year.

More info will come, once all recruits are finalized.  Its a pretty good one!

John Henney, a freshman at UW-Platteville and former BCC player is transferring to UW-Oshkosh.

On page 458, post #6856 ... I posted a comment that I thought UW-Platt would have a hard time holding onto all of their big guys.

Guys want to play ... the prospect of sitting two years and waiting is not appealing to everyone!

You're right you did.  But from my understanding down here is that it wasn't necessarily a basketball decision, as much as it was school and girlfriend attending UWO.  I'm sure basketball did play a little bit of a factor, but was not the deciding factor.
