What's up with Oshkosh?  I can understand losing at Lawrence and Point, but only beating a lowly, young Norbert team by 5 is troubling, at least if you're a Titan fan.

On the other system, you only had about 5 minutes to edit crap, now you can do it days later...that's crazy!

It is crazy, but if you abuse it, people will call you on it since the timestamp is right there.

Per the scoreboard:

Stout 58 - Superior 37 Box Score (just 95 points scored...?  So much for Stout being a run and gun team)

I believe the reason the Devils didn't score too many points is because Superior was using 30-35 seconds each trip down trying to get a shot off. They had several shot clock violations as well.
The Jackets had 4 field goals in the second half, two in the last minute against the Stout defense.

Yes, I thought it was a very competitive game, it was there for either team to win, and the WARHAWKS[/color] showed  mental toughness down the stretch to pull out the victory.   I thought we played pretty decent defense for the most part too.   We could never seem to get any offensive flow going during the game.  Everytime we'd close the gap to a point or two we'd have chances to gain the lead but Point would push it back  to 5-7 points instead. We had a definite size advantage but we couldn't really use it because of Toellner and Perry's early foul trouble.  With  the absence of Freund we were short handed to begin with and those two sitting on the bench for most of the first half didn't help matters.    But we hung in there, got some inside baskets late in the game, made our free throws (23 of 26) and most importantly got defensive stops down the stretch.  Bench play was significant, ours outscored yours 26-4.  Plus we only had 10 turnovers, uncharacteristic for us but critical in this game because Point doesn't turn the ball over (they had 9) and you can't afford to give them a bunch more possessions than they're giving you.

Point has a good team and they're going to be a handfull for any team to handle this year.  Last night they lived and, in the end, died by the three point shot.  They were there to the very end.  One thing that impressed me quite a bit was their ball movement, particularly in the first half.   It was very crisp and they swung it from side to side quickly.  It created quite a few open looks for their shooters and they were shooting pretty well.   Plus it's apparent they haven't forgotten how to play defense.  Right now they may be a tad undersized but when they add a big to that group they'll be better.

I was just glad to see us get a win and defend the home floor.  We didn't do such a hot job of that last year and any team that wants to contend in this league has to win on it's home floor.  It's hard enough to win on the road so you can't afford to give anything away at home.   We're not playing any where close to what I think our potential is so this was a step in the right direction and I'll take a win over the defending national champions any time.

Also I thought there were a lot more people than 477 there but I didn't count them.

Yes, it is a little disappointing to only beat St. Norbert's by 5, but a win is a win, and that's all the Titans need right now. I wasn't at the game, but judging by some of the statistics the score seems like it might not indicate the closeness of the game. St. Norbert's took 60 shots, while Oshkosh only took 41. The Green Knights shot 34.6% from 3-point range, taking 26 threes, while Oshkosh shot an amazing 81.8% from 3 point range, going 9-11 from behind the arc. Andy Jahnke was 5-6, while Capelle, Doedens, Miller, and Kyle Johnson each made one. After talking to Coach Van Dellen he said one of their problems was just not making shots and he has to be happy with shooting 51.2% overall. Two stats that probably made this game closer were the Titans 16 turnovers and only going to the line 11 times and only shooting 54.5% from the charity stripe. It'll be a test for the Titans with Stout coming to Oshkosh this weekend. They've had this date circled on their calendar ever since Stout came in here last year and beat them soundly on their home court.
Don't give up. Don't ever give up.

Winning by fewer points than rival team's fans thought they should – that can happen to any team.  St. Norbert played some good clean physical basketball against UWO, and made it difficult for the Titans to run their plays.  It was good preparation for Saturday when we get a good idea if UWO will be a legit contender.  They better be ready with their best game of the season so far, or Stout will give them an uphill road to climb in January and February.  On a side note, Scott Gibson played some good minutes.  He might be able to provide a little depth at the end of the season.  The people on this BB who posted their scouting report on him, nailed it just right.  Great athlete, good game, but four years of rust will be tough playing for a team with the style of UWO, and in a league like the WIAC.

Mr. Downtown

In order for the Titans to win on Saturday, they need someone to step up outside the big 3. Did you know, that Jordan Johnson has taken only 10 shots this yeah? Yet, he has started 4 games....seriously, MORE PRODUCTION is needed out of everyone.

To be honest with you guys, I believe that Stout has to be the favorite in this match up, they won last year at Kolf, and right now its hard to say that they wont again. I only hope that Oshkosh finds itself and get back no track

How about that UWL win at Platteville ? At the risk of being hyperbolic, I'd say that was the win that could really get the progam over the hump. I recognize that no one game makes a season, but after the loss to WW at home and a lackluster win at Zorn, I was unsure if the club was for real- or if it had fattened up on weak non-con opponents. A double-digit win on the road againt a quality opponent is a signature victory, and may serve as an announcement that there is a new contender with real potential to shake up the Conference. I eagerly await Saturday's game with Point.

let's not go off the deep end brian.  It was a quality win from a quality team but one win doesn't signify 'turning the corner.'  The players will continue to take care of their part and we can only hope the same is done on the bench

it should be a good game.  I am actually going to venture off to the girls game as well.  Really looking forward to it
