Just for fun, I'd like to know who "other" is, for those who chose that option.

Tony Mane.

I voted for Jake Smith, but I think Mane is going to be the player of the year.

Greek Tragedy

My initial idea was to put all of the 1st team all conference players from last year on the poll, so it would've also included Kurt Hanson, Bryan Beamish and Miles McKay, but I got lazy.

The WARHAWKS shot 59.6% from the floor and blew past Carroll University last night.  The game was close in the first half but we'd opened a 10 point, 39-29, lead by halftime.  Carroll closed the gap early in the second half but WHITEWATER kicked in the afterburners and ran away with it after that.  The final was 89-68.   Our superior size really showed as Dustin Mitchell was 6-7, Kori Vernon 6-7 and Billy Kolinski 6-9 from the floor mostly on inside shots and the rebounding edge was 35-19.  Myles McKay led all scorers with 26 points.  Mitchell finished with 16 points followed by Vernon with 14 points and Kolinski with 13 points.

The team didn't get much rest as they left this morning at 5:30am for the West Coast and a weekend tournament at Lewis & Clark.

Hmmm.....  Wonder what titan2000 would have to say about the "under dog" winning the UWO-LU contest once again?

Too bad he was "banned" and we won't get to find out!!  ;D

(On second thought, maybe not.....  It's MUCH bettr this way!!!)

My other...Myles.

Good to see the big boys down low getting into the offense a little more.  We will need that later on if Goodwin and McKay are having off nights, but it seems like Goodwin didn't have a good night last night (3 points, no threes) against a good Midwest league team.

He never did get on track offensively and only took 7 shots for the entire game.  Way too few imo.  But he did lead the team with 5 assists and played pretty good defense on Carroll's
guards.  Afterward I commented to a few people that while he had an off night it was encouraging to see the team could dominate without him scoring.  That's a good lesson for the team to have learned.

I'm not worried about Matt.  He'll produce.

Point wins by a dozen over WI Lutheran.  Had the lead up to about 20 near the end.

For those interested in WIAC basketball, we plan to focus on it this coming Sat. morning on our 2 hour show airing on WMEQ 880 AM and WBIZ 1400 AM.  The show airs from 8-10 and you can go to WMEQ.com and click on "Listen Live".  We plan to talk to coaches Ed Andrist, Terry Gibbons, and Jeff Berkhof as well as our Men's basketball expert, Jack Bennett.

You are shameless stoutguy, we have not heard from you for a while and then you pop up to plug your show (good show by the way).  Did you go to the stout game over last weekend?  if so how was it?  Now if we want to here what you think we have to listen to you and you know that it is easier to just read what you have to say on this board!!!!

By the way we are looking forward to you comin out here next summer.

Hmmm, this is the D3hoops.com WIAC basketball posting up thread.

But nah, no one that would come to this site would be interested in WIAC basketball.  ;D

My radio boss just threw me under the bus for my clever "For those interested in WIAC basketball" quote, but no matter, I will continue along.  Yes I was at the Stout/Buena Vista game and I thought Stout played very well against an outstanding team.  We still could have used one or both of those big twins that I used to like to talk about.  Yes, we hope to get out there so make sure your mom is in charge of the free beer because she was always better at it than you.

I dont want to get personal here, all the other posters don't want to here us go on and on.  Your radio boss can do whatever he wnats, thats why he is the boss (looking forward to the boss coming out to if he could, I too can plug) I here those twins were pretty terrific but they would like stout to win the conference with them (if I remember right they did not win with them, DAMN EC) but I am not bitter.  By the way everyone is better then you when it comes to "free beer".

Greek Tragedy

My first look at the Pointers this year was on Wednesday down in Milwaukee as they playe Wisconsin Lutheran.  I've seen WLC several times throughout the years, and with a solid performance against Whitewater, I wasn't quite sure what Point would do.

To my pleasant surprise, they came out with guns blazing and went up 17-3 early on.  Pete Rortvedt hit his first three and I thought the floodgates would open early.  However, Point went nearly 5 minutes without scoring.  It wasn't a matter of solid defense by the hosts, but rather missed open shots and several missed bunnies as well.

Point took a comfortable 15-points lead into the break and WLC only "threatened twice in the 2nd half.  Each time they got the lead down to 8, Point would respond and then the next thing you know, the DAWGS were 15 and then 19 on those two ocassions.

Semling cleared the bench around the 4-minute mark and that's when WLC cut the final deficit to a respectable 12.  But, I don't think it was that close at all.  It was almost as if Point toyed with WLC, letting them get close and then putting the hammer down.

Matt Moses was the man going for a double double, while Rortvedt really struggled.  It's comforting to know that Point can still dominate an opponent with Rortvedt off the mark.

Nick Krull and Jerome Brezinski did well and we'll need those bigger bodies to be respectable to open up shots for the other guys.  All in all, a good showing with solid defense and a great outing by Matt Moses.

Good luck in Texas!
