UW-Supes take UMD (University of Minnesota, Duluth) to overtime and lose by 5. Supes won three quarters, which must have riled the Bulldogs. They finally started hitting threes from the corner...repeatedly. Got annoying after a bit; couldn't figure out why the Supers didn't see that guy in the corner. I have no idea what UMD is supposed to do in the season, but this must have been a shock for them. I, myself, was pleasantly surprised.

Falcons (1-3) lost 75-61 at UST (3-0). Koonkaew and Anderson, 15 and 13 pts. respectively, paced RF. UST led 42-29 at half, but Falcons trailed only 59-51 with ten minutes left.

Can't really tell you much, because all I was able to listen to was the last 1:15 of the game.  At this point UWP was down 64-62, Anderson University had the ball with :15 left on the shot clock coming out of a timeout.  Pioneers make a stop on the defensive end, and call a timeout to avoid a jump ball.  Pioneers inbound, and work down the clock to :45, when a lob went inside to Jeff Skemp who tied the game with a left handed dunk underneath.  AU runs some offense, calls a time out with :25 left in game and :08 on shot clock.  UWP again gets a stop, gets the ball past midcourt and calls timeout.  On inbounds, look for lob down low for Skemp, but AU deflects ball out of bounds.  Lohoff inbounds ball to Allen who makes uncontested layup with just under :07, and desperation heave by AU missed.  UWP wins 66-64.  Radio says Pioneers came back from down 15 in First half.

Coach Combs has nothing but positive things to say about this Anderson University team leading to their trip.  He felt they were top 25 caliber.  I guess they proved him right.  Pioneers had 21 turnovers.

UWL struggled through most of the game but pulled ahead at the end and beat Viterbo 72-51.

It was gratifying to see them play well down the stretch.  The big new guys show promise, but the team played sloppy basketball tonight.

Get in both leagues

The Pick Em League is up and running (wins and losses only, no confidence points)

The new, improved and easier WIAC Fantasy League is also up and running.  This year's league consists of you picking 5 players (regardless of position and regardless if someone else has picked that player)!!!  It's as simple as that!

No word from the Oshkosh guys in awhile, must be on break.  I was surprised not to hear anything regarding that Augustana game.

As for today's game, they beat Clarke 90-74.  The Titans had a 45-35 halftime lead, but Clarke came out of the break on fire, cutting it to 53-50 with 13 minutes to go.  I guess Oshkosh woke up and went up 64-50.

Little Matty Miller went off for 31 on 9-15 from 3-land.  DJ Marsh had 27 and Seckar-Anderson went fir 13 points and 11 boards.

I have not been to a UWO game since LU. I try to comment only on games I attend or listen to. I plan on watching most of tomorrow's game, though. The Dordt Defenders? Never heard of them, but I'll watch them.

For anyone planning to come to La Crosse for a game.  The stadium building project has taken about half of the lot on the North side of Mitchell Hall, next to the stadium.  There is a large lot about a block away off of East Avenue.  The lots on the South side of Mitchell are unaffected.

PM me if you want more detailed information.

River Falls and Superior win today.

UWO loses at home to Dordt by 4.

Eau Claire wins a hackfest (43 total fouls) 82-75

Boxscore shows 64 people showed up!  Nice.

River beats Sioux in the battle of the Falls 66-59.

La Crosse comes back from a 3-pt deficit at the break to top St. Mary's (MN) 72-61.

Superior smokes St. Scholastica 87-68 after building a 25-point halftime lead.

Looks like it'll be another long season for the Blue Devils as they drop a 90-80 decision to Rockford after having a 10-point lead at the intermission.

*EDIT:  Sorry, that was last week's boxscore.  They topped Northland tonight 96-43.  My bad!

Oshkosh loses to Dordt 68-64

And in the big game of the night, #7 Platteville takes down #21 Wooster 76-67

WW wins 89-63 over Edgewood. McKay another good game.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Not much to add about the UWO/Dordt game. Reminded me of the UWO/SNC game. The box score says it all. DSA didn't get enough good looks and yet another team went off on the O glass against UWO. The Dordt post D was pretty good, and that Kingma dude was a playmaker. To my eyes there was also a noticeable difference in energy levels, especially in the first half. For UWO to attempt two first-half FT's is just weird. As everyone knows the Titans win when they board and get to the line. They did both for just over a half today. Dordt's too good to get away with playing your game 3/5 of the time. Never heard of Dordt before this year, but I've got it now. Decent team. Despite that it was anyone's game for about the last six minutes, so it's in there somewhere.

I'm still cautiously optimistic for the No. 4 seed come WIAC tourney time. Pretty sure that was most people's ceiling for UWO coming into the year, anyway. Nothing changed for me in that larger view of things. Plenty of stuff to like today. Having a chance when DSA has 1 FG is a positive. Flanigan earning bigger chunks of PT is a positive. Matty regaining his stroke is a positive. And DJ wearing #5 is always a positive. But there is obviously plenty to do before 4-seed hopes become fact.

La Crosse looked really sluggish in the first half, as both teams shot atrociously.

The key to the comeback was a spate of turnovers midway through the second half.

Mane had an off night, but Brandon Brown picked up the slack.

We have three straight games against top twenty five teams.  That will tell us a lot about our team.  At the moment, I don't see them being a serious contender in the WIAC.

EC - 40 points off the bench as Gibbons gets his 1st W at Kolf. Amadou Fofana picked up fpr Beyer, who got in foul trouble in the 2nd H. Freshmen Josh Prince and Nick Bartlett logged some productive minutes. Best of all, the "Super Fan" left before the second game. (in fact, so did everybody else...announced crowd = 64!!)

EC has some depth, but needs to figure out a rotation and they need to get Probst healthy to have an effective inside game.
