I would say about 85-90% full? There are seats under the UWSP basket and in the balcony behind the benches but only scattered open spots elsewhere.

Mostly Point fans?  ... well, it would be regardless... but many WW fans there?  I wouldn't think so with the WW football game...

POINT WINS 67-64 in OT

Brian Beamish went down with an injury early in the first half and was out the rest of the half, without Pete Rortvedt and Hurd (thought one or both might have been back), and UWW gets a 12 point lead.  In the last second of the half, Matt Moses gets his 3rd foul.

Point comes back with underclassmen playing huge minutes and nailed a 3 to tie with just over a minute to tie it.  They went down 2 more on a Vernon putback and Jenkins missed a pretty open layup.  El Amin then draws a foul right before the Pointers (intentionally) foul and Point keeps the ball and Jenkins gets open again and makes a layup with 4 seconds, and Goodwin missed the shot to go to overtime.

Point won the tip and Moses got an easy layup and the foul.  Point then forced a WW miss and got the board, and Moses got another layup, Point up 5, 64-59.

Vernon hit two FT's for WW to bring it to 64-61 and Point turned it over on the next 3 possessions.  Luckily, WW manages just 1 FT and bucket on the ensuing possessions, and we're tied again at 64-all.

With 1:11 to go, Beamish draws a foul and makes two.  Goodwin missed on the next WW possession and Jenkins got the board and got fouled and missed both FT's.  Goodwin missed another shot and Jenkins got another rebound and was fouled, this time making the first, Point up 67-64.  With 3 second, WW lost the ball out of bounds, Point inbounded after having some difficulty initially, and runs out the clock.

EC over Stout, 77-61.  Pretty good game by EC.  Things got a little dicey in the 2nd half when Stout hit a few 3s but EC got it together and pulled away.  Shea played very well down the stretch.

I would watch out for this EC team.  While I don't think they will challenge for the conference championship, I think they have an oppoutunity to battle for that 3rd or 4th spot.  They definitely have the players to put the ball in the hoop.  If they can play well defensively they are a team to watch out for.

Gibbons has now had a couple good recruiting classes and for the first time in a while, the future looks bright for the Blugolds.  I also like the addition of former Eleva Strum coach Roginski to the staff.

#6 Platteville 76 Superior 69 BOX
River Falls 69 Oshkosh  59 BOX
Eau Claire 77 Stout 61 BOX

La Crosse 61 #3 Augustana 54 BOX

For the second year in a row, UW La Crosse takes down Augustana:

Amazingly, per the box score, Augustana's last basket was at 4:52, where they took a 53-49 lead.  La Crosse hit a 3 with 4:34 (their last basket).  La Crosse made 9 free throws the rest of the way, to Augustana's 1, and that provided the final margin.  I can't wait to read a report from someone who was there to find out about what looks like a very, very strange ending!

Should read, "Jenkins missed A WIDE OPEN LAYUP!!!" LOL...luckily, he didn't miss his 2nd wide open layup!

Anyway, amazing game at Quandt.  With Hurd still out and Rortvedt out his 2nd game and then with Beamish with ice on his knee for most of the 1st half and with Point facing a 12 point deficit at the half, it was all doom and gloom.  Great efforts by the youngsters and stud-in-the-making Matt Moses, the Pointers rallied in amazing fashion.

More later as I need to sleep.  Heading to Lambeau tomorrow, so a game report from my eyes will be late.

La Crosse over Augustana?  Biggest upset tonight.  Nice rollercoaster ride Jared Jenkins took himself on.  Missed bunny layup, made bunny layup, missed free throw, missed free throw, made free throw, missed free throw.

Point Special, you were in good hands (or eyes)!!!

Let's see what happens Wednesday with LC in town...

janesvillebb

From a different board:

Well 11-5 is now very likely. I have seen 4 of WW's games and have seen more 1 on 1 bb than I care to see. We are a completely different team from last year. Hard to believe with 4 starters returning.
Hard to understand what Miller is thinking with his substitutions. And now yesterday he changes the line up, he puts in a new point guard who has more turnovers than assists on the year. Good move when we are already having turnover problems.Just look at the box--- 3 to's and 1 assist in 33 min. Give Point a ton of credit---played harder and better coached, congrats to them, long year for us.

COMPLETELY AGREE  !!!!! BRILLIANT MILLER
