OS, ftp is a "file transfer protocol" or something like that... and it's a system for transfering files (with a name like that, who would have known?!?)

I figured Bennett would wait to insure his guy got the job, but I don't think he waited near long enough for that. There is still lots of time left to post the job and do interviews before the main recruiting season comes. In fact, I think it will be mandatory to do so at this point. (no pun intended with the "point")

Old School,  That guy in the picture next to you with the credentials looks kind of nervous about you holding the trophy....like you might drop it or something :)

Congrats to Jack, what a way to go out with 2 NCAA Championships. As the commercials say "priceless."

Greek Tragedy

My friend, Swampgoon actually thought Bennett should've retired earlier to give Semling a better chance to get the job, ironically, the total opposite of what you think.

It's a state job, and it's required to "post" the job, if I'm correct.  I think he'll have the interim job for year and we'll see what happens after that.

The first thing that comes to mind is Dick and the Badgers where Soderberg seemed the logical next coach.  I think a lot of us were surprised that he didn't get it, as we all know it went to Bo.

Anyway, the situation is a little different and I have no doubts in Semling's ability.

As for the picture of me with the trophy.  Yeah, the guy next to me was the official trophy care-taker...seriously.  I asked him if I could get a picture of me holding the trophy, as did Swampgoon...we did the same the prior year as well.  After I gave the trophy back to him, he ran off real quick because some REAL person wanted a picture with it (i.e., a player).  Anyway, I yelled, "stop that guy, he's stealing the trophy!"  Needless to say, if Point ever wins another national championship and he's still around, I doubt he'll let me hold the trophy again!  :'(

Old School,
It's my opinion that Jack retired very late to give Semling the sure bet of coaching that team this year.  I think Jack has all the  confidence in the world that Semling will do a great job and will then have the best chance of getting the job the following year.  When you retire early from a job like Point, many good coaches are going to be interested and Semlings competition would have been very tough.

Old School, I don't know anyone, except perhaps you and Dick, who was surprised Brad didn't get the BADGER job.  The manner in which Dick left suggests that even he knew Brad was not the logical choice.  I thank god that didn't happen.  We'd be cellar dwelling now.  Soderberg is not a Big Ten head coach.

Jack waited long enough to insure his assistant would get a shot on an interim basis which could strengthen his position when the job is posted and a national search is conducted this spring.   I don't know what expectations for this year's team are in Point but I've got to assume, despite graduation losses, with consecutive national championships they are high.   Dick left Brad with more talent than Jack's leaving Bob.  Bob has got his work cut out and if he and team stumble I suspect it's going to really hurt his chances.  Obviously if they succeed he's probably a lock.  It just might have been nice to have a few more horses in the corral.

I was wondering if he was a little more collected than Jack.  Does anyone know ?
Will he be running up and down and across the court every night ?  ???

I don't recall Coach Bennett running up and down the court when his teams were WINNING IN SALEM, something none of the other coaches have had the chance to do, except for Coach Semling.

How long will it be until someone posts a powerpoint on here--with all these graphic options,  Pat may need to consider an aesthetics award.

Ok, Pat, I've got it down now and I'll quit wasting bandwidth.  :)   The ability to add images is a great addition.
