Congratulations to Point on an impressive road win.

The jury is still out on La Crosse, in my opinion.  They have shown that they can run with the big dogs in the conference, but they haven't convinced me that they have the heart and ability to win steadily.

Old School, it was nice to meet you and have dinner.  Brian and I had a good time.

Earlier someone was wondering how Joe Werner could have ever escaped the clutches of Terry Gibbons and the Blugold and ended up in LaCrosse.  Recently I heard the story and thought it interesting.

It turns out that Gibbons wasn't the only WIAC coach to miss out on Werner, they all did.  I'm not sure if he just didn't show that much in high school or what the reason was but he wasn't recruited by any of them including LaCrosse.  He enrolled at LaCrosse as a student and one day walked into the basketball coach's office and said he'd like to try out for the team.  They didn't have a clue about him until after the tryout.  Obviously they were pleased he'd taken the initiative to stop by their office.

Sometimes you just get lucky.  ;)

Ya know BW, that's pretty much what I heard too.  I heard he went to LaX for football (ya think he played football...?  LOOK at him!) and for whatever reason (either he was low on the depth chart, or didn't have fun, or something) he decided not to play and joined the hoops squad instead.

you would think the lax tribune would take advantage of this story and post an article on joe.  it would for sure be a good read

I only missed the first couple of minutes of the women's game.  So, yeah, I saw it.  It was nice.  As far as I know, Shawn Lee is taking a medical redshirt and you won't see him on the court until next season.  I think BanditUWSP or Point Special can confirm this, but I think that's the case.

doubt it.  he will be back in a few weeks and add depth to the squad.

Sorry, multiple sessions going on at the office and I hit the wrong one.

Question on WW, any football players also play hoops?

Are the football players at WW a bunch of slush heads or are they in the business school ?

I don't have much to add to Old School's account of the Eagle loss to Point, except that it was disappointing. Good movement without the ball by Point, and a failure to block out on defensive rebounds by La Crosse deserve a mention, however. I thought La Crosse would make a better showing. We now seen to have three tiers in the WIAC for this season. Stout, WW, and Point form the elite group, and Sup, RF, and EC are likely to bring up the rear. This leaves Osh,Platt, and LC battling for the 4-6 slots. I assume the Titans could move up if they get it together, and acknowledge that anything can happen with any of the teams. Still, this is how I read the Conference as of today.

OS & laxeagles1...
Regarding Shawn Lee.  This evening, during a radio interview, Coach Semling stated that as of now no decision on Shawns return had been made.  It would be mid-January at the earliest that he could be cleared to play.  A decision would then have to be made if he wanted to come back for the remaining games this season or wait until next season.

Sometimes when I read the WIAC board, it all seems like Chinese to me!  ;D

On a more serious note, nice to see Wisc Stout doing well so far since their only loss is to Wooster.  :)

You're just saying that because you know it helps Wooster's SOSI, or whatever they call it now! lol  ;D

Wow, Stout jumps 10 spots and Oshkosh stays in the top 25, barely.  Thought Whitewater would get more votes.  Oh well.

It's now called the QOWI, the Quality Of Wins Index.

As Judge Reinhold said in Fast Times At Ridgemont High: "Learn it. Know it. Live it."  ;)

Oh, and beating UW-Stout didn't do diddly for Wooster's QOWI. The two schools are not in the same region, nor are they within 200 miles of each other.
