If you're bored and looking for some entertainment, venture over to the MIAA board and look at all of the back and forth between Hope and Calvin fans.  I've been following this board since it was announced that Platteville plays Hope and I've got to say that it has been interesting.  I fully understand how big their rivalry is, but there have been very few posts about the upcoming tournament.  Most of all there has been very little well wishing for Hope from non hope fans.  I'm glad that we're a better board than that.

GO Platteville, Stevens Point and Whitewater!

Boston 1113

I think that Platteville, Point and Whitewater will all move on in there first round games. All of those teams are battle tested and will not lose.

I hope that the Platteville band doesn't disappoint!!  Good luck in your travels. Enjoy the first round games

Hope and Calvin fans REALLY don't like each other.  They are different branches of the Dutch Reformed Church.  When we played Calvin at Hope, the Hope fans cheered for us as enthusiastically as our fans.

somebody asked about Tony Mane not being on the all-conference team.  I agree that his statistics earned him a spot.  But he didn't start for significant games.  For a weak team.  That may have been a factor.

Best wishes to Point, Platteville, and Whitewater this weekend.  You are all fine representatives of our conference.

WIAC ALL-CONFERENCE SELECTIONS

Wow...I guess I'll never know how they select the All-Conference team.  I'm usually a numbers guy, so I was also surprised by some of the selections.  When talking about Marsh, Skemp etc, they list their stats.  So, if it's not about stats... ???

Also, someone like Aaron Anderson on HM, mentioned before.  That's kind of interesting.  Khalifa El-Amin making first team is a huge surprise...he didn't even get HM last year.  As usual, I'm surprised to see so many Pointers on the list.  FOUR this year, and three the last two years.

Apparently, at least this year, the WIAC selections seemed soley based on winning, with the top five teams taking all 12 spots on the first team.

Stevens Point-4 players
Platteville-3 players
Whitewater-2 players
Oshkosh-2 players
Eau Claire-1 player
I guess so.  "To the victor go the spoils"  The new way of the WIAC.  I find it interesting that not one coach would give Stout's Enerson-Mathews one hm vote.  (that's all it takes to get listed-1 vote).  A complete lack of respect for a fine young man who just kept his mouth shut this year and played his tail off.

Greek Tragedy

Maybe he got a red card.  I know if you get that in soccer, you're ineligible for any type of honors.  I would've voted him in.

Just curious, don't they limit how many are on the HM list.  I mean, if that's the case, only one vote needed, couldn't there be 20 players on the HM list?

I thought Enerson-Mathews was a good enough player to at least earn honorable mention status and it seems unusual that he wouldn't get a single vote.  So I was wondering, did Eddie nominate him?

Apparently you know as little about the current Platteville women as I do about Wheaton!

Their past reputations don't do the current crop justice...

It is my understanding that you can't nominate your own players.  I don't know that for sure, though.

Just Bill

Coaches nominate their own players, but cannot vote for them.  To get honorable mention you need to be named on at least two ballots.  He could have been named on just one.
