well thats awesome...Just when you think Oshkosh might catch a break and get back to the norm, Robert Morris comes into town on next Saturday.  >:(

Well...I guess the Titans will just have to win the conference tourney this year to make into the dance

Lucky you, Oshkosh gets Robert Morris-Springfield (8-9), not the "feared" Robert Morris-Chicago (13-1).  But, Oshkosh will probably still have to win the conference tourney to get a bid!  I see them losing at least one more game in the WIAC.  If they lose in the conference tourney, that will give them a minimum of six in-region losses and, imho, that's the cut off for Pool C bids.

To give you an idea of the difference between RM-Chicago and RM-Springfield...

RM-Springfield has a game against RM-Chicago JV.   :o

Any D3 team that hangs with Robert Morris-Chicago, as Wash U (lost by 3), Platteville (lost by 6), and Hanover (lost by 7) did, should be commended.

Good thing for Wash U, Platteville and Hanover is that that loss doesn't mean anything to the NCAA.  Robert Morris-Chicago is NAIA.

Pointers beat Buena Vista 74-69 after blowing a 15 point lead in 2nd half, with the Beavers full court press resulting in alot of turmovers. 21 turnovers made the game much closer than it should have been. Bauer with 17 points led the dawgs. Mid American Nazarene (NAIA) is up next on Friday.

Greek Tragedy

As frodotwo said, Point tops Buena Vista last night.  It wasn't the prettiest game, but the dawgs came through with a win in an important in-region nonconference game, possibly the only one they'll get in this tourney (unless they meet Clarke College in the final, which probably won't happen since they play Robert Morris-Chicago tonight).

It was nice to see Point pull out a win despite leading scorer and leader of the team Jon Krull managing just 5 points on 1-7 shooting.  Amazingly, all ten players that logged minutes scored.  Bauer and Hicklin led the way with 17 and 14, respectively, with Rortvedt chipping in nine.  Once again Beamish got some good minutes, while foul trouble by Bauer and Rortvedt helped Gbenga Awe get some rare minutes.

Point is off until Friday night when they take on Mid-America Nazarene.

Turnovers seem to be a trend in this tourney, even for Point.  Point had a rare bad night, forking the ball over an uncharacteristic 21 times.  Buena Vista equalled that total.

Point-21 turnovers
Buena Vista 21

Robert Morris-25
Cardinal Stritch-30

Clarke-24
Purdue-North Central-21

Mid America-Nazarene-13
Grace-14

Stout vs. Augie is on the internet right now... Stout is up by about 5, with like 9 to go, should be a barnburner.

titan2000

Does this make Stout the "team to beat" in the WIAC ?

I'll tell you, Titan2000, if it doesn't make them the team to beat in the conference, at the very least, they are not going to sneak up on anyone.  This is a good basketball team that just seems to be getting better.  Best performance of the season for sure.  Augustana is the real deal.  The best shooter I have seen in many years in Rick Harrigan.  Came in averaging 26 and looks like he could score against anyone.  Stout is led by Jake Nonemacher who was just awesome tonight.  24 pts., 9 boards, listed for 3 blocks but I swear it was twice that many, 6-8 free throw shooting and 9-14 from the field.  Dominated the inside.  Everyone played very well.  Chandler scored 10, Stangl had 10, Nate Severson big off the bench with 12.  Two gigantic games next week.  La Crosse Wed. and then at Point on Sat.  This team is so exciting it ALMOST makes me want to not head for Mexico next Friday, but I just have to do it.

UWEC over St. Mary's, a bottomfeeder in the MIAC, 76-66.  Good game from Zac Ryan, who has been very impressive this year.

Guess who UWEC plays in the championship game?  The 7-man team from the UP, Finlandia.  Looks like Gibby got his wish, playing Finlandia 3 times this year.  Sad, very sad!

BDB

Sitting next to him on the floor at the Augustana-Stout game last night, it amazed me how much coaching stoutguy does from his seat. And the players listen!

Hope stoutguy and Coach Andrist are on the same page.  ;)

Seriously, the Vikings are a very good shooting, quick team that would fare well in the WIAC. I think the big difference in the BlueDevils this year are Eddie's match-up zone and Chandler and Stangl not being freshman anymore.

Greek Tragedy

Here's an interesting senario for you.  Point plays NAIA foe Mid-America Nazarene today.  If they lose, they'll play NCAA D3 foe Clarke College in the 3rd place game.  If they win, they'll play NAIA opponent Robert Morris-Chicago.  So, in the NCAA's eyes, a possible win vs. an in-region opponent is more beneficial.  Not that they'd purposely tank against Mid-America to get a shot at an D3 in-region foe or anything... ::)

Nice job by WIAC teams last night.  How did Superior do?

BDB-It is so much easier to do radio for these games than it is to watch it like we did last night.  Talk about getting into a game.  I consider it an honor to be on the same page with Eddie.  He is doing a fabulous job of coaching this team, but at the same time, what a great bunch of kids he has.  A class act of players that are a treat to be around.
I couldn't agree more with your reaction to Stangl and Chandler being a year older.  I would add that Jake and John are not just seven footers anymore.  They are players.  Regarding the coaching thing, I will admit that the coaching juices really start flowing again when you get a chance to watch a game like this one from the front row (under the basket).  That was my long time assistant sitting next to me on my right and he also, just loved the game.  I am a Stout fan, but believe me, I would not have been disappointed if Stout had lost.  That was just a great game with no losers.  Stout now must try to match that kind of effort next Wed. against La Crosse and next Sat. against Point.

"Unbeated,"  where in the world did you ever hear that word PS?  :):);)

Nice win, Stoutguy, color me impressed.  Stout's on everyone's radar down here.

WHITEWATER[/color] had little problem with Robert Morris - Springfield.

Superior was smoked 92-57, OS.

What?!  They WERE unbeated!  They had yet to be beated.  They were one of the most unbeated teams in the country!
