Okay, Old School, because I am not going to see any games now after tonight for a couple weeks I will make this bold prediction regarding Stout/La Crosse: The winner of this game tonight will either win the conference championship or be in the tournament championship game or both.

You are bold to say that before your guys play the second half of the season Stoutguy. ;);)

BW,  stoutguy is being bold these days because he is heading to Cazumel in a couple days and his mind is already seeing blue waters and bikinis.  :)

For Stout to win against LAX tonight and at Point Saturday is an awful tall order.

If they do it, the Devils will look like the real deal.

Well, not quite sure what's up with this league yet.  How good is Oshkosh, how good is Platteville and how good is Point.  I think Stout and Whitewater are the real deal.

So, with that said, not sure if winning at La Crosse and at Point is an awfully tall order.  Point looked and sounded horrible down in Dubuque.  They definitely need Brian Bauer back in the lineup.  Will the return of Shawn Lee spark a run?

La Crosse has yet to win at home in conference (losses to Whitewater and Point), while Oshkosh's double-dip this week at Platteville and yeah, even at Eau Claire will determine if they are a contender or pretender.  La Crosse did handle MIAC's best to offer in St. Thomas.

Even if Stout splits their games this week, they are still in good shape.  Whitewater could distance themselves just a little with a sweep of Eau Claire and River Falls.

My unofficial quarter rankings!  ;)

Stout
Whitewater

Stevens Point
La Crosse

Oshkosh
Platteville

Eau Claire
River Falls
Superior

I agree with you and that is what makes me surly.  Oshkosh should own this league for 2005 and 2006, but alas, that is why they play the games.  I guess I should revel in the good competition rather than cry about what should have been.   :'(

Stout moves up one spot to #10 in the poll.

No other WIAC schools in the top 25.  :(

P.S.  Rose Bowl? What Rose Bowl?
        I'll be at the LAX-BlueDevil games!  :)

Okay, okay, enough already.  Yes, it is early, but we have played some games and all these early ones count too.  I just like this Stout team right now.  Blue Devil Bob will have to be my spokesman for the next couple weeks so anything he says, just double it.

UWSP got no votes in the latest poll (Not that they necessarily deserve any), any idea on how long of a streak that breaks? Who is the current longest vote getter?

SofaKing

I noticed the Superior mens and womens coaching jobs are both open. Maybe I didnt search enough in the latest conversations but what happened?

When UWSP was not ranked at the beginning of this season, it marked the first time in something like 62 rankings that Point had not been ranked.  I have no clue how long it has been since they didn't recieve a vote.  Take a look at the previous top 25's on the front page.  That would hold your answer.

Big win tonight for Oshkosh

Again, Oshkosh struggles offensively. Cappelle doesn't make a single basket! Jahnke carried the load scoring 15 with Miller once again chipping in with the 3 point shot.

Oshkosh now 8-4, 2-2 and playing Eau Claire this Saturday, a good, intriguing match up next wednesday against LAX at home. Maybe that might be the bounce back game Oshkosh needs

Brian Carroll

What a great win for La Crosse tonight at Stout. Trailing by 8 at half, the Eagles found their game in the first 2 mins of the 2nd frame. Marcus Conigliaro led the charge with a couple of big baskets, and the Eagles led 59-51 at one point. After a TO, Stout scored 8 in a row to tie the game before Tim Owen nailed the winner at the buzzer. This rather shakes up the standings. The home team is now 0-5 in UWL Conference games this year.

If I remember correctly, the Superior men's job was hired on an interim level this past summer/fall.  Same deal as what happened at Point but UWSP finalized theirs before the season and Semling received the head coaching job outright.  Its just a posting of the position so an official search can happen after the season.  Don't know about the women's position but I'm going to take an educated guess and say its the same circumstances.

whitewater wins UGLY! EC commits 27 turnovers and is still in the game at the two minute mark. WW hits free throws at end to seal victory. EC played hard entire game and outboarded WW, but WW made more free throws than EC attempted. that is the story of the game. C miller not too happy a.t.t.  :-[

Greek Tragedy

Point wins going away, 79-49.  No game story posted yet, but the boxscore is up.

SP made first four shots, including three three-pointers, in opening up 11-2 lead...SP led by as many as 19 points in first half at 27-8...SP's Rortvedt had career-best 17 points.

Rortvedt, as shown, has a very nice night, including 6 boards.  Point is up 40-21 at the break.  Point was up as many as 33 at the end of the game and Superior is gets no closer than 17 at the beginning of the 2nd half.

Interesting to see that Shawn Lee is the only player that didn't log minutes.  Bauer returns from injury with 11 points, 4 assists and 4 rebounds.  Not sure if I like the fact that more than half of Point's shots were 3-pters, though they did hit 48%.  Point is back to passing, 21 assists on 29 made field goals.

Tyler Hildebrandt lead Superior with 16 in only 20 minutes.  Interesting to see he only had on personal foul, so wondering why he only played that few minutes.

Wow. Double the BDB - BS. I am not sure the other posters want that stoutguy.  ;)

Congrats to the LAX mens team on a great game last night at "The Johnson."

You LAX'ers have a couple very nice teams to follow this year.
