That seems like a bit more than a "stab in the dark".  That sounds like someone with a little more knowledge of the situation than he/she is letting on.

Here's what I think happened.  Of course this is also a "shot in the dark" and I don't have a clue either but I'm not about to let that stop me from speculating.

I think both Gregory and Ziemer had cracked the starting lineup and both were practicing. Suddenly a giant orb appeared above the gymnasium and a strange, yet erie, red (or maybe it was magenta) beam came down from the orb and transported both of them skyward and into the orb.  Then two clones were dropped from the orb onto the floor.  By this time the red, or possibly magenta, light had changed to blue, or possibly aqua.  The two clones appeared exactly like the originals with the exception of one very important trait.  Neither clone could play basketball.  Baffled by the sudden change the coaching staff was left no option but to grayshirt the clones and insert Jenkins and Krull into the starting lineup.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :D

I was guessing the same thing  ;D

QuoteIm not exactly sure what happened but Im going to take a stab in the dark. Ziemer was having his struggles being very homesick missing his mother while along making a slow but sure adjustment to the college game of basketball. one wednesday came around about 2 and a half weeks into practice when coach semling asked Jason how things were going and if he liked stevens point? Jason being what he is honest replied, " well to be honest coach i really dont like it here that much" the next question was asked so what are your plans then jason replied " well i'd like to play out the year and see how things go." Semling then said well Jason we cant have that if your going to be unhappy, this would just be unhealthy for you and unhealthy for our team and before you know it was talking about tranfering at semester. All of this eneded up blind siding Ziemer leaving him confused and in shock. The next day he met with assistant coach Lance Randall who made it seem more like they wanted him to stay. He was more pushing Ziemer into staying and being apart of something special. In the end Ziemer was left confused and baffled to what he should do with a head coach who wasn't pushing to convince him into staying because of homesickness and what not, i mean who wants to play for a coach that isn't pushing them to give it a chance. Then that friday came along and Ziemers good friend and roommate Bryan Gregory was told " things just didn't work out." with no explanation to why Gregory couldn't be apart of the team, Ziemer and Gregory left. In the mean time Ziemer found out that his mother who cares about him greatly emailed the coach saying Jason has been struggling a little bit. so basically a cry out for help. That cry out for help turned into his mom regretting even saying a thing to the coach because she now feels guilty. without that email there wouldnt have been a meeting that pushed Ziemer away from teammates which he loves along with the game of basketball. It really is a shame to hear that a mom can't ask the head coach to help her freshman son out with the adjustment of college without him almost getting MANIPULATED into not playing. I mean dont read this and think this is the truth but im just guessing in the dark i know as much as everyone else. God Bless

This was posted on the Wishoops web site discussing Ziemer's departure from UWSP.

I think whomever is qouted here THINKS he knows more about it than he is saying.

Coach Semling's actions don't sound that harsh to me.  If the guy isn't happy, let him look for happiness elsewhere.

Looks like it's about time for me to update my standings...   Actually, I want to wait until the first week of Jan, more games will be finished by then.

I want to take a moment and wish everyone on this board a Very Merry Christmas and a safe, happy and healthy New Year!  All the best to the WIAC family and here is to hoping that a WIAC school can duplicate UWW's football team's performance!

I should read this more often; I'm always referring to old entries. Anyway, Lac du Flambeau kids go to high school at Lakeland Union High School in Minocqua, so if you said LdF and Lakeland, you were right for both.

Happy holidays to all you sportsfans.

Dupree Fletcher...read he played his first game for Whitewater.  What's the 411, Badger?  Apparently just became eligible at the semester?  Transfer, I presume?  He lead all scorers in his first game!

I don't know all of the Fletcher specifics but he came to WHITEWATER after not having played competitively since the 2006-07 season and became eligible at the semester.  He's a good player and as last night indicates he'll definitely help the team.

WHITEWATER 77
Augustana 66

The first half was played back and forth for the first eight minutes when Dustin Mitchell scored from the floor to give the WARHAWKS a lead, 15-14, which they held for the rest of the half and built to a high of eight just before the half ended 34-28.  After the WARHAWKS went up by nine, 41-32, in the first couple of minutes of the second half Augustana closed the gap and took their only lead of the second half, 56-55, with eight minutes left to play.   However Alex Edmunds scored on a layup to put the WARHAWKS back on top and they maintained a single digit lead until Augustana was forced to foul and WHITEWATER went 12-12 from the free throw line in last 2 1/2 minutes to close out the game.

Fletcher led all scorers with 21 points including 10-10 from the free throw line.  Mitchell finished with 18 points and Phil Negri added 15 points.  Augustana outrebounded the WARHAWKS 32-30 but a 14-5 edge on the offensive end gave them  a significantly larger number of shots, 64-44.  However the WARHAWKS shot a better percentage, 52% to 43%, made more 3-point shots, 5-2, and had a significant advantage from the foul line going 26-29 to 8-14.

This was a good win.  Augustana has three losses.  One to D1 Gonzaga, one to the #1 ranked DIII team, Washington U and one to the #3, us.  They were tall, long and athletic.  Their pressure defense was tough.  Plus foul trouble to Mitchell and Bendall forced us to play small for significant portions of the game.

Wow!!  Great win!! These 'Hawks continue to impress this year. So far so good for a team that was considered to be a "rebuilding year," based on the amount of talent they lost from last season.

Keep it rolling!

UWL beat Elmhurst tonight by about ten.  The game featured rallies both ways, but it was always between us being well ahead and up by a small margin.  We had a decided height advantage, but they were very fast and played very smart basketball.  For some strange reason, we kept trying to run on them.  I think we would have been better off slowing it down and playing half court with them.
