The WARHAWK men's game will be video streamed on the Defiance website.

Actually it only will be audio on the Defiance website live, but I believe video will be put on website after game. NCAA charges $500 for live webcast of NCAA Tournament, which is not in the budget for Defiance's webcast guys.

How many Whitewater fans are making the trek all the way to Wooster? Yikes, that's a taxi ride.

Good luck to him.

I agree.  I hope he has a good, relaxing retirement.  He's earned it!

This is no disrespect to Coach Miller (who I like very much as a coach and a person) but I still think the COY pick was wrong.  No matter how much Whitewater lost last year, they still were picked #2 in the preseason poll.  And even though Stout did return a lot, they ended the year 9th last year and were projected #9 preseason too.

I mean, it's kind of a no-brain pick... the guy who led his team to the conference title gets COY.  This has happened every season for the last 13 with just one exception that I saw... in 2001-02 when Stu Engen won the award after a pretty monumental collapse at the end of the year (LaX was up 1 game on Point, Oshkosh, and Whitewater with two games to play and lost to both WW and Oshkosh... the threesome split the tri-title and LaX then proceeded to bow out of the conference tournament in the first round as well).

I'm not quite sure what the rationale was for Engen to get the COY... he bolted from LaX after that season and went to Minnesota-Moorhead, where he still is today.

Eddie put life into this Stout team.  They really were one of the hottest teams in the country for the second half of the year, beating both Point and Whitewater (and not only was the Whitewater game not close - 95-77 - it was in Whitewater).  I watched the Stout/Whitewater game in Menomonie as well...  and Stout could have very easily won that game too.  The thing that plagued them down the stretch and almost allowed Point to come back and either tie or win the game at the end was turnovers.

I'm not going to say that they were totally unforced errors... because Point and Whitewater both were trying their best to make things difficult on the Blue Devils... but they just got incredibly loose with the ball.  They had 4 straight turnovers from the 4:14 mark until the 2:42 mark and their 13 point lead was suddenly 3.

And against WW at home, Stout would make a run... and be on the brink of blowing the game open, but then they'd turn it over.

Again, no disrespect to Coach Miller (or any of the WIAC coaches... I know how much they work their tails off), but Eddie, you earned COY this year in my book!

Actually, a school-produced video broadcast costs $0 in rights fees. It's only when a commercial entity does it that there's a charge.

Four sites have hired us to produce video for their regional this week, including UWSP.

HERE is a link to the announcement from UWSP posted earlier today.

And, as usual, I'll post updates in the in-game updates board from this and any other game I'm able to follow.

All-WIAC team link

Yeah, I'm shocked Wade Guerin not making 1st team.  Pleasantly surprised to see Matt Moses get 2nd, but he had some big games, for sure.  I'm happy to see Jared Jenkins make ACHM as well.  8 of 17 all conference players are underclassmen, including four first teamers.

Easy answer: Guerin did not make first team bcuz RF finished last. I remember 2004:  RF  won the championship and a RF player was named first team who absolutely did not deserve to be there. Where a team finishes in the conference has an effect on all conference selections, especially the top two or three spots.

I'll agree that initially it was a bit of a surprise to see that Wade Guerin didn't make First Team... But then I remembered that to add someone, you need to remove someone.  There is nobody on the First Team that I would remove to make room for Guerin.

Disagree with PointSpecial on this.  The biggest reason why WW was picked was to finished 2nd in the WIAC is because everyone expects them to finish in the top two.  Remember the Warhawks found a way to win the WIAC Championship this year although they had to replace all five starters from last years team AND they only had one player make First Team All-Conference.  While Eddie had 2 players make First Team.   There is no doubt that Eddie did an AMAZING job the second half of the season, but what about the first?  If Eddie had all of his success in the first half, but struggled in the second would you feel the same way?

Go Pointers and Warhawks.  Show the Nation what the WIAC is all about.

:)  We can agree to disagree.  I think the turnaround from the first half of the season to the second half is precisely WHY Eddie deserved it.  He took last year's last place team, picked last again, who was PLAYING like they were a last place team... and he turned them around and had them playing like one of the, if not the best team in the country for the second half of the year.  That should definitely count for something.

You could just pull a MIAC and have 16 guys on the first team.

Actually, Whitewater only lost four starters from last year.  Negri started 17 of 29 games.  ::) ;D :D

Not sure how the voting works, but they had 12 on first team last year.  Must have had some ties or something.

Point has never mentioned anything about tickets other than they will be emptying the gym between games. Are we looking at a sell out situation here or is it safe to walk up and get in ??

Which game to you want tickets for?  The second game is sold out... has been since either Wednesday or Tuesday I think.  I'm not sure about the first game.  Either way, it's possible that there may be tickets either for sale at the ticket counter (not likely) or from fans who purchased too many.

Here's a story from Tuesday regarding remaining tickets from the Stevens Point Journal...  There were 200 then, they've probably all been swept up.

You might try calling the ticket office at 715-346-4242 or 800-838-3378.  I'm not sure what luck you'll have.  From the Sweet 16 three years ago, there were a lot of people for that first game (it was Hope vs. Carroll) but it wasn't full.  This year it's Hope vs. St. Norbert... not sure how it will compare, but Hope usually travels well, though it is a haul to central WI from western MI.

Thanks for the info. Since there is video I think I'll sit this one out on the couch then. Point's not that far away from me but if I can't see both games it's kinda foolish to make the trip.

Like 3 years ago I'm guessing they will be selling tickets for tomorrows game immediately following each of tonights games......... Were someone to buy an extra for tomorrow and let me know about it, I would appreciate it. <hint hint>

PS. I don't want to go if it's a Hope-Carleton final.

Do you have Old School's number?  He's going and he's going to get tickets for tomorrow if Point wins.
