Greek Tragedy

Statistically, Smith had better numbers than Manor.  Hill looks like he got hurt or something in the game against Albion.  6 minutes, 3 points...

Too bad you're not opposed to playing schools your own size, then you might get a taste of the intention of D-III athletics.  Wait, then you'd  miss the opportunity to get your tail kicked by a little school with a couple of thousand students.  Regarding the annoying idiot who screeched everytime a chickenhawk shot a free throw, every school in America would be lucky to have a fan like him, and he couldn't be further from annoying.  He's one the best human beings on God's green earth. Go Cru!  Beat Whitewater!

Congratulations.  That cost you some karma.  If you want to get in the playoffs and succeed, you need to play quality D3 schools.

phoenix_rising,

did you find out what happened to Dwight Hill and why he only played 6 minutes in the final game in Arizona?

You can field a pretty good basketball team with only 8-9 guys.  Enrollment size in basketball is even more irrelevant than it is in football.  Any school regardless of size can find 8-9 quality players so it's really more a matter of how well you can recruit than it is a matter of a school's enrollment.   But that's a matter that seems way beyond the comprehension of some.   So they continue to use it to rationalize their own shortcomings.

I haven't heard anything about Dwight Hill. The scariest thing is that I didn't even see him on the sidelines during the remainder of the game; I saw the trainer but no Hill. that would mean he was either hurt badly enough to have to stay in the training room OR he got kicked off the court. It seems unlikely they'd vote him MVP if he'd been ejected from a game...doesn't it?

We also seem to have lost Demario Williams sometime after the Platteville game. I don't know what happened to him, either; he wasn't getting a lot of playing time, so I don't know if that was part of the problem or not. Seems strange to transfer here and then not play after a few weeks. I'd think if he'd gotten hurt, he'd still be on the roster. I liked the way he played; didn't seem to be timid on the court.

You guys seem to lose players up there on a semi-regular basis.  First they are there, and then they're gone.  Maybe you guys need to call in the Superior branch of CSI or better yet, call in Scully and Mulder.

The pasty white ones just vanish in the snow. And, just about everyone up here turns pasty white by this time of year.

One person thought Hill was on crutches this AM. Heard nothing more than that. I expected to see a big email from Buchanan this morning, but nothing yet.

So does Stevens Point bounce back and play some defense vs. Oshkosh Saturday?  Does TVD watch the Carroll tape and try to exploit them too?  Does Beamish take it to the rack or do they rely on the outside shot?   ???

I predict Point bounces back and wins 74-69, pulling ahead very late.

Maybe when Superior plays a road game at someplace like La Crosse, that has night life, they lose an occasional player to the lure of the bright lights!  :D

A few comments on Point/Oshkosh:

Point played a lot better defense vs. Oshkosh than they did vs. Carroll,

Oshkosh perimeter shooting off, lots of in and out 3 point shots,

Point really let the Titans rebound, several 3 offensive rebound trips for the Titans,

Oshkosh seems reluctant to go to the rack with their guards.  That forces the post up Seckar Anderson or DJ Marsh game, which Point defended well.  TVD was an inside guy and he sure likes the post up game to a fault today.

Good crowd, Point fans travel well.

I am really suprised that Oshkosh beat Carroll a few weeks back after watching the games this week.
