Trevor Stratton had 22 pts, and Tony Mane had 20, as La Crosse put forth an excellent efort in beating Superior 84-58. La Crosse shot  better than 52% for the game -60% in the first half. IF they play this well Wednesday, they could give WW a game. A more likely upset scenario would be the Mitchell Hall re-match. Let me insert a good word for Coach Buchanan's 'Jackets, who played with intensity, and who are certainly on the uphill climb in the conference. I wish them and their enthusiastic fans much succss.

Oshkosh seems reluctant to go to the rack with their guards.  That forces the post up Seckar Anderson or DJ Marsh game, which Point defended well

Hardly, when DSA goes 6-10 for 16 and 11 boards (6 offensive), Point hardly defended the post well! lol.  Actually, they did some of the time.  They did force DSA and others to get rid of the ball with help side defense.  Good TEAM defense all around.  I was surprised Marsh didn't go to the line more.  It seemed like everytime he got the ball, the refs were calling fouls against Point.  Considering Oshkosh had 12 more rebounds and 13 offensive rebounds, I'm little shocked that both teams shot the same amount...52 FGAs.

I'm impressed with Point's balanced scoring.  In the pregame radio show, the guys were talking about Point lacking a "go to guy", a la DJ Marsh for Oshkosh.  My thought was Matt Moses simply because he seems to be the only guy that goes to the basket.  It definitely showed tonight.  All he has to do is work on his free throws! lol Nice 3:1 ratio of assists to turnovers for the visitors too.

Amazing stat from the game... and some fuel to your Matt Moses fire there OS...  Matty was 0-fer in the first half and ended with 17.  Khalif was also 0-fer and ended with double digits too.

I think, even though DSA ended with 16 on 6/10 shooting, Point may have done a good job on him in the post.  The second half, he sure sounded like he had his way on the offensive boards... which could amount to easy baskets.  Keeping him to just 10 shots, though, could certainly be impressive.  If he had gotten 10 of the shots missed by Marsh or Miller and made 6 of them, then Oshkosh wins by 1.

Stinks when something as silly as a job interferes with watching WIAC MBB. Been to just two UWO games and one LU game all year. And to think I missed the UWO/Point game ... for shame. My favorite box score nuggets of the night: El-Amin blocks a shot, Lohoff plays 36 minutes and doesn't attempt a FG.
Also, anyone know if the LAX Tribune has written a feature about Stratton's return to college BB?

El-Amin might not be big... but he does have some hops.  He's averaging 3.4 rebs a game and actually led the team with 6 boards in the first game of the year.

The WARHAWKS jumped out in front 11-0 and River Falls trailed by 7 points, 26-19 with a little over 8 minutes in the first half when Matt Goodwin hit a three-pointer on four consecutive possessions and the lead was expanded to seventeen.   Goodwin went 5-6 on three point attempts in the first half and the lead was pushed to twentyfour 54-30 when it ended.  RF would get no closer than seventeen points after that.  The final was 90-68.

Myles McKay led all scorers with 24 points.  Goodwin finished with 20 points while Kori Vernon recorded a double-double 13 points, 10 rebounds.  Billy Kolinski and Dustin Mitchell also finished with double figure scoring of 13 points and 11 points respectively.  Phil Negri had 9 assists.

WHITEWATER shot well hitting 61.8% and 61.5% in the two halves and going 10-19 from beyond the arch.    Goodwin finished 6-11 and McKay went 4-5 making all ten of the WARHAWKS' successfull three-pointers.

RF shot 46.3% for the game and were led by Jake Voeltz with 18 points.  Spencer Shelman added 10 points including 2 three-point baskets in which the ball bounced high off the rim almost hitting the shot clock before droping, rolling around the rim a couple of times and finally sinking into the net.

Fever--no, I did not get to WW, thankfully. Obviously, it was over by half time. I hoped we would be  competitive, but when no Falcon seniors start, and WW is hot, and playing well, no second division team is likely to be in the game at Kachel.
RF has to catch the top 3 in the league off their game, and be shooting well too, in order to pull off a loss margin of ten or less, or an upset win.

The halftime entertainment at the Oshkosh/Point game in Oshkosh included the "Titan Drumline".  I thought it was pretty good.  Too bad the drummers can't shoot, although the Titans FG% Saturday could probably be matched by a few of them.

So shooting 48% is easy enough for a drumline to match?  Geez I guess everyone but Whitewater, Platteville, and Eau Claire should be looking for some new players then, since they are the only three schools in the WIAC shooting over 48% on the season.   ::)

Which in turn, would cause me to point the blame at UWO's defense, not their offense.....  :-\
