Another tough loss for UWL against an athletic WW team. Tony Mane and Kut Kincaid not in the starting line-up, although both played quite a bit, esp. Mane. Despite the good effort tonight, this appears to be a team in free-fall. I'll be interested to see if they can get up for the long road trip to Superior on Saturday.

Not sure what's worse, you doing that or BadgerWarhawk bowling...

In an unrelated note, Hill, Manor and Culy all play but Superior still loses.

Carroll caught Point coming off of a 10 day layoff and beat them at Quandt by 14, They played better and deserved to win. I don't think that would happen today. Carroll and St Norbert just don't have the "body of work" that the 3 top WIAC teams do.

I wouldn't go as far to say Carroll (I haven't seen St. Norb's) is on par with the Top 3 WIAC teams, but you can't totally disregard them either.  I mean, they did beat Point and Norbs did beat Platteville.

I know one thing, Carroll is for real.  Yeah, they had early season loss to La Crosse, a blowout loss to Whitewater and a mid-December OT loss to Oshkosh.  But, they have two stud guards that probably match any WIAC team.  They have a serviceable big man in Josh Gould who is actually a football player (255 lbs) and a solid forward in Nate Zimmerman.  I don't know anything about Kyle Jones, but all 5 players average double digits in scoring...

I wouldn't be too excited if any of the WIAC teams have to play Carroll in the NCAAs...or St. Norb's for that matter.
I was at the Carroll-St. Norberts game last night.  Carroll looked pretty bad.  They have IMO one WIAC worthy athlete and that is their point guard John Hoch ... quick as lightning, good passer.  Carroll has no height.  Gould their football player/post is their best rebounder but is a huge liability offensively and lacks quickness to defend the post.

Stevens Point should be embarrassed losing to this team!

St. Norbert's is a much better team.  Emphasizing the word team.  They defend better, move the ball better, run their offense better ... much better coached team in my opinion.  They are a bunch of no-names (which is a compliment really).  Four players in double figure scoring (but only one of them was a starter).  I can see how Oshkosh and Platteville lost to them.

True, however Eau Claire still has to play Point, Plattville, and Whitewater, whereas Oshkosh only has Whitewater left on the schedule.  I think either Eau Claire is going to have to "upset" one of those three or Oshkosh is going to have to falter against the bottom half of the WIAC for Eau Claire to finish with the #4 seed.

Who knows, it COULD come down to the head-to-head match-up the first February at Eau Claire.

Went to the Superior-Eau Claire game last night. Left with over two minutes left in game; went home, took three Ibuprofen, and went to bed. I wish you could get OTC morphine.

Ok, I admit my missing games because of bowling (not a real sport despite the use of a ball) is pretty bad.  But in my defense it only happens because I have a spouse to appease.  Missing a game because you were taking a online jeopardy test is worse unless, of course, it was the only time one could take the test and it ends up getting you on television.

The WARHAWKS came out of the gate quickly and built a 10 point lead over LaCrosse in the first 5 minutes of the game but the Eagle responded, went ahead with about 6 1/2 minutes remaining on a three-pointer from Tony Mane.   They maintained the lead for the remainder of the half and were up by 6 points, 36-30, when it ended.  LaCrosse maintained the lead, building it to as many as 11 points, until a Matt Goodwin three-pointer tied the game, 54-54, with just over 6 minutes left.  Andy Marklien hit a lay up to put the Eagle back on top but Dustin Mitchell drained a pair of free throws to tie and after LaCrosse missed a shot that was followed by a Tyson Kingsby three-pointer which put the WARHAWKS back on top to stay, 59-56.   WHITEWATER built the lead to five but a three-pointer by Nick Papendieck cut it to two before Kingsby went 1-2 from the free throw line to create the final three point margin, 64-61.

Kori Vernon led all scorers with 25 points.  Dustin Mitchell had a double-double 14 points, 11 rebounds.  Myles McKay and Matt Goodwin, averaging 35 points between them, were held to just 9 total points.

Tony Mane led LaCrosse with 19 points but it took 22 shots to do.  Trevor Stratton added 15 points but he took 15 shots to get them.  Neither team shot very well as WHITEWATER finished 40.7% and LaCrosse 37.5% from the floor.   LaCrosse attempted 10 more shots than the WARHAWKS but WHITEWATER went 15-20 from the free throw line to LaCrosse's 7-9.  WHITEWATER also won the battle of the boards 43-33.

Carroll shot 58% from the floor against Point.  Last night they shot 44%.
Are you sure it was the same team?

Cubs,

Where's your buddy Mr. Downtown?  He move to greener pastures?  I liked his WIAC tourney rankings and his input...
