Here's something to ponder: In the five head-to-head games involving UW-Platteville, UW-Stevens Point and UW-Whitewater, there have been an average of 9.8 ties and 12.6 lead changes per game.

You're almost lucky as a fan to find one game like that per year.

I think you need to consult the Platteville math and engineering departments.  I can assure you, without risk of error, that you could not find one game this year in any division that had 9.8 ties or 12.6 lead changes in it.

I believe the number of ties or lead changes would have to be a whole number in every game.   ::)

Of course it's just a hunch on my part but I suspect the rest of us pretty much understood the point Sid was making. I'm not sure why it is so difficult for you to fathom.  But then you've been pretty slow to pick up on things before too.    ???  ::)

Sorry Titan2000. Seventy-percent of an SID job involves using precise statistics. The other 50 percent doesn't.

One of the top comebacks of the year! ;D  +k

Yup, Ypsi, got to agree with you on that one.  It was a dandy.

See now, that is why our Engineering department could be just that much better than it is now.  With a new building, new thoughts and practices should come as well with UWPSID professing those classes.   ;D

Greek Tragedy

All is quiet on the WIAC front.

Tough road games for the top three this week.  Whitewater has two roadies, one to Oshkosh and one to River Falls.  Platteville heads to Zorn and then to Quandt, while the Dawgs go south to La Crosse before hosting Platteville.

Can any of those guys slip up on Wednesday?  It's possible.  Whitewater heads up highway 41 to Oshkosh where the Titans are a good 5-2 at home.  They gave Whitewater fits down there, leading by 7 early on, and then closing the gap to just 3 with about a minute to go.  The Warhawks ended up winning by 9, but I'm sure it was an uncomfortable 9 points.  Can the Titans do it?

Eau Claire got destroyed in Platteville this year, but we all know what happened last year.  The Blugolds are 4-2 in their last 6 conference games including a tough 3-point loss at Point recently.

Point beat La Crosse by 13, but it was tough for 3/4 of the game.  La Crosse was within 5 with less than 8 minutes to go before fading.  With guys such as Stratton and Mane, they have the firepower to score.  The Eagles have been very disappointing, but have had respectable losses to Whitewater (by 6 and 3 pts), an OT loss to #1 and undefeated St. Thomas and a big win against CCIW giant Augustana.  So, what team will show up against Point on Wednesday?

Let's just say everything turns out according to plan over the next two game days, as far as the "favorites" winning.  (We all know that in the wacky WIAC, that seldom happens.)  Under this scenario, both Oshkosh and Eau Claire would finish at 8-8 on the season, and play each other in the #4 vs #5 game on Tuesday.

As it stands now, would I be correct in assuming that Eau Claire would host due to the fact that they swept River Falls, whereas Oshkosh went 1-1 against the Falcons?  If that is the case, I have a feeling there will be quite a few Titans pulling for the Blue Devils on Wednesday, (in addition to Saturday) in hopes on having Superior finish ahead of the Falcons, giving the Titans the first round home game.

I thought it was a great comeback, too ... and I wouldn't be surprised if UWP SID keeps it in his back pocket at all times for just the right occasion. ;)

Cubs-I believe you are correct.  Since everyone went 0-6 against the big three, you would then follow the same logic with the team directly below you.

If WW, PL & SP all end up 12-2 with PL beating SP on Sat., WW would be the number 3 seed based on two road losses while PL and SP would flip a coin to see who the top seed is...that or dunkel ratings come into play! lol

Not to get ahead of ourselves...but when and where might that commissioner coin flip take place? It's not clearly defined...

I can just see our student section showing up at the flip and chanting 'Tails never fails!'  :D

Greek Tragedy

there will be a flipping of the coin meeting at the wiac headquarters to determine where the coin flipping for the number one seed will take place. tickets for the second coin flipping go on sale Sunday, if its needed.
