Of course I was hoping that Myles McKay would be the player of the year.  A strong argument can be made for him.  McKay finished third in the voting so he was a finalist.   However I don't think you can argue about Skemp and Marsh getting the honor.  Both are excellent players.  Skemp may be the best big man in the nation.  He is certainly a part of the discussion.  And Marsh, well I doubt Oskosh wins 9 games in conference play without him.  If the most valuable player in the league is the one who does the most for his team Marsh is probably that guy.

I had a feeling that Matt Goodwin was going to end up an honorable mention selection.  He just didn't have the kind of year that he did last year.    It was great to see Kori Vernon finish so high in the voting.  He really took his game up a couple of levels this season.  Surprised, but pleasantly so, to see Dustin Mitchell get honorable mention.  He's really developed this year and got better as the year progressed.  We're going to need him to be a significant factor next year.  Nice to see Billy Kolinski make the sportsmanship team.  Despite being a Lion fan he's a good kid.

Congrats to all the players recognized and to Coach Semling.  You can't argue that pick.

Had to buy a 14 dollar white T for the game. >:( but its well worth it.  Kinda surprised that Marsh got co-poy, I guess i was thinking between Skemp and McKay.  Good luck to all Wisconsin teams except Lawrence never did like them ;)

wheaton has only given up one road loss this season. personally, I think they tend to concentrate more with less attention. for your sake, you better pray the stands fill with wheaton orange and blue

Wow....  Kind of surprised to see that UWL guard Tony Mane was nowhere to be found on the All Conference team.  You'd think a guy that finished in the Top 5 in scoring would at least garner some Honorable Mention recognition. :-\

The guy was the leading scorer and rebounder in WIAC play, so I can see how he was selected.

Some recruiting news out of both Oshkosh and Superior, that I thought some of you may be intersted in.

Considering there are THREE WIAC teams in the NCAAs starting this weekend, it's pretty quiet around here.  If said fans are traveling, this is the day to post...

chirp, chirp, chirp...

I'm traveling to Wheaton as part of the UWP pep band. We're the only school in our 4-team pod thats bringing a band, so that's cool. Wheaton is on Spring Break though, so my hopes of chillin at a bar with some of the locals is dashed.
BTW, With Wheaton on Spring Break this week/weekend, does anyone else think that the timing may be bad for the host school, esp. if UWP plays them in the 2nd rd?

You obviously  don't know Wheaton very well...do you??

I'm sure there is more than on establishment in either Wheaton, Elmhurst, or Naperville...which is where we are staying.  So either way, there should be plenty of elbows to rub up against.  Will have about 3 hours in the van to get plenty warmed up before hand as well....shhh, just don't tell everyone  ;)

Is this meant for the first game, because otherwise I'm fairly confused about this comment?

I'm sure you can find any number of establishments in the area in which so sip a beverage or 6...

I was more respoding to his chilling in a bar with the locals, taking that to mean Wheaton students which ain;t gonna happen because of this:
Embracing College Standards

To foster the kind of campus atmosphere most conducive to becoming the Christian community of living, learning, and serving that Wheaton College aspires to be, the College has adopted the following institutional standards. These standards embody such foundational principles as self-control, avoidance of harmful practices, the responsible use of freedom, sensitivity to the heritage and practices of other Christians, and honoring the name of Jesus Christ in all we do

While enrolled in Wheaton College, undergraduate members of the community will refrain from the consumption of alcohol or the use of tobacco in all settings.

Hell they just allowed dancing on campus a few years ago.  (psst  Wheaton was the inspiration for Footloose)

I take it there are no Ariel Moore's (Reverend's daughter) in Wheaton?  There has to be rebel students there somewhere that will bend the rules and Dance.

WIAC ALL-CONFERENCE SELECTIONS

Wow...I guess I'll never know how they select the All-Conference team.  I'm usually a numbers guy, so I was also surprised by some of the selections.  When talking about Marsh, Skemp etc, they list their stats.  So, if it's not about stats... ???

Also, someone like Aaron Anderson on HM, mentioned before.  That's kind of interesting.  Khalifa El-Amin making first team is a huge surprise...he didn't even get HM last year.  As usual, I'm surprised to see so many Pointers on the list.  FOUR this year, and three the last two years.

Apparently, at least this year, the WIAC selections seemed soley based on winning, with the top five teams taking all 12 spots on the first team.

Stevens Point-4 players
Platteville-3 players
Whitewater-2 players
Oshkosh-2 players
Eau Claire-1 player
Pointers
Breed of a Champion
2004, 2005, 2010 and 2015 National Champions

Fantasy Leagues Commissioner

It's the opposite direction from where you'd be going if you went here, but there are quite a few in the Carol Stream area.  You shouldn't have a problem finding bars in Naperville or Warrenville though.

I had a feeling that Point would get at least 3.  All four really were deserving.  And re: Khalif... he's Point's leader and the guy who takes care of the ball the best... on a team that takes care of the ball really well.  He's also #2 in the conference in 3 pt shooting percentage and top 10 in makes.  Easy for him to be overlooked when Pete Rortvedt gets all the attention (from defenses, I mean... and rightly so, he holds pretty much all the conference and school records for 3 point shooting and is in range from the locker room...), but certainly deserved.

I'm hoping for W's all around tomorrow night... My work schedule got changed to I'll actually be able to listen to the games Sat night, which is awesome.

Actually, I'm really torn...  I wouldn't mind watching Platteville take on Wheaton if they both move on, too... Hmm....  That would be the first time I'd give up listening to Point (if they move on) to watch somebody else...
