Are the WW wheelchair guys all disabled or are they just required to play in wheelchairs?  How is this sanctioned and what type of surface do they play on--rubber, wood, etc.?  What is a foul and what is an unfortunate accident in this sport?

Did Illinois get $$ from the sanctioning body to fly to WW or did they have to take a bus since it was under 500 miles from Champaign?  Or do they just hitch them on the back of semi trucks and let them ride up for free  ;D

Kind of cool for Whitewater, almost as good as dime taps at Mitchells.  8)

The National Wheelchair Basketball Association is the sanctioning body for collegiate wheelchair basketball.   All of the athletes are disabled.  To be eligible they must have an irreversable lower extremity disability which consistantly interferes with functional mobility.  They play on a regular basketball floor.  Our wheelchair players play in either the main gym which is wood or in the fieldhouse which is rubber.  The floor must be at least 84 feet in length and 50 feet in width.  The main body of rules are those of the NCAA though some NBA rules apply and there are modifications because of the use of wheelchairs.  Interestingly there are no divisions in collegiate wheelchair basketball so small schools play large ones and UW-WHITEWATER is a national power.

My daughter once traveled to South Carolina where she was introduced to a young boy, 9 years old, who was wheelchair bound.  She was wearing a UW-WHITEWATER sweat shirt at the time and when the boysaw it he got really excited.  He knew all about WHITEWATER'S program and wanted to come to school here after he graduated from high school.

This board is certainly tough on relative newcomers ... I'm sorry that I don't regularly go to that page!

Well, it's the main page of D3hoops.com -- you should always go to it. Don't you like to get the news?  :-\

In order to get to the message board, d3boards, you usually go to d3hoops.com and then go to the "post" link at the top, right?  Or, do you just have the d3boards.com link saved as a favorite?  I guess I don't understand how you don't go to the front page first.

I wasn't trying to insult you, whether you are new to this or not.  But, a lot of posters fail to realize what a great informational site this is and just treat it as a message board.  And I'll disagree with you, I don't think it's that tough at all for newcomers, IMHO.

For what its worth ... I go straight to the d3boards.com ... I wasn't offended and didn't mean to seriously sound that way either!

On that last point we'll agree to disagree!
