I just heard Shane Manor, SO., UW-Superior will NOT be returning to Superior next year and will be enrolling at UWRF.  Under WIAC rules, I believe he will have to sit a year, none the less, the addition of Helland at UW-Sup., should offset their loss and definitely a good addition to the Falcons, albeit not for a year.

I didn't think you had to sit a year. Guess I'm wrong.

Some conferences have rules about transferring between conference schools. I am not familiar with all of them.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the WIAC has a rule that if you play two or three seasons at a WIAC school, and then transfer to another WIAC school, you have to sit one year before regaining your eligibility.

I believe you are correct cubs.  If you've been in a program for more than one year you will have sit out a year before you can play for another league program by conference rule.  If he were to transfer to one of the private schools I believe he could play right away.

Yup.  Cubs and BW are correct.  God I love it when Flash is wrong.

13.5    Intraconference Transfers.  Student-athletes who have competed for less than two years are eligible immediately upon transferring to another conference institution provided they have met all other applicable transfer requirements.  Any student-athlete who has competed for two or more seasons (which may be nonconsecutive) at a single WIAC institution must establish a (one) year of residency (see 13.3.1) in order to be eligible to compete in that sport upon transferring from one conference institution to another.  A season of participation regained as a result of an approved medical-hardship is not considered a season of participation in the application of this bylaw.  [Revised 6/1/06]

I found a rare clip of stoutguy doing the news on radio.

Should I get the guy, his partner, or the gerbil on our Sat. show for an interview?  Wow, what a story.  Flash, you have way too much time on your hands if you can come up with this stuff.

On a more serious matter, I agree with St. Croix on the Superior addition of Helland.  It will easily offset the loss of Manor.  Helland will be a force in the WIAC.

On the poll, I voted for MLB is starting, but there is a little tournament going on now that some of you may have heard about.

The last two rounds are being played in Detroit.  And the sole remaining Big Ten member just made it to the finals!

North Carolina defeated Michigan State 98-63 in December.  Hopefully Michigan State will be competitive tonight.  I'd love to see a Big Ten team bring home the national championship.  Though I'm already pleased that the Big East was eliminated from contention.

Suton did not play for MSU ... and they were coming off a holiday tournament where they just played 3 games in 4 days.

Additionally MSU is on a roll right now, at no time during the season were they playing as well as they have been so far through this tournament.

UNC and MSU are definitely on my top 10 list of college basketball programs that I dislike ... UNC is far and away #1 so I guess I'll be a B10 fan.

Besides MSU has Korie Lucious playing for them and he played reasonably well against UConn.

I voted for MLB ... simply because it was the only good choice available.  Break from sports ... never!  Watch the NBA?  Rather take a break from sports!
