I have a source that told me former UWGB Head coach and Washinton State assistant Mike Heideman will be throwing his name in the ring for the job.....

It will be real interesting to see what happens at UWP next season.

They had 8 guys play in all 29 games last year ... they graduate 4 of those 8 including 3 starters.  All-world 6'-10" Skemp (leading scorer, rebounder and shot blocker), point guard Charlie Lohoff, arguably their MVP, along with glue-guys Tetschlag and Ritcher.

Their tallest returning regular is 6'4" and 6'-5".

Their two announced recruits Tordoff (Monroe) and Hoffman (Benton) are both guards coming to a guard heavy team.

Their roster sports two returning players at 6'-8" Alex Bondar (East Troy) a freshman who played all of 32 minutes this past season and senior to be Alex Brown (Milton) who played even less.

Barring some suprise transfers/recruits it appears to me that UWP will slide back to the middle of the WIAC pack!

Heideman is no longer at Washington State and he did not move with Tony Bennett when he took the Virginia job this spring.  He (Heideman) may be looking for a job!

That's why I used the word "former."

We have a confirmation on this that's good enough to go with so we're publishing it.

Who did you get confirmation from?

I assumed you were using the word former as attached to UWGB head coach position.

There's no names in any of these three stories besides the byline. I'm wondering who D3Hoops talked with that confirmed the story.

...Not that it really matters at this point as the aforementioned press conference is underway, most likely confirming all of these rumors.

Greek Tragedy

Since I failed to secure the Wayne State job and have no interest in the Cardinal Stritch job, I, too, will be throwing my name in the hat for the Platteville job!  Point Special and Pioneer Hoops Fan are my assistants in waiting.  ;D :D ::) :P

The UWP search will be interesting for sure. Would they really hire Jeff Gard? I know he has been an assistant there for a while and has some strong family ties there, but he has never been a head coach. I have to think UWP will have some candidates who have quality head coaching experience. This still has to be one of the better DIII jobs in the country, and I just can't imagine giving it to someone with no head coaching experience.

Well, if I divulged my sources I probably wouldn't be able to get too many other off the record confirmations.

D2 Winona State announced its schedule for the upcoming season.  Lots of WIAC teams on their schedule:

LaCrosse and Eau-Claire play them in exhibition contests and UW-Stout matches up in a regular season affair.

Another Paul Combs leaving article ... does have some quotes from Combs and UWP's AD.  He's set a target date of June 1st for finding a replacement.  Current assistant Jeff Gard and NDSU assistant Will Ryan are mentioned as possible successors.

Wouldn't it be interesting to see Bo's son take over at a school that launched his dad's career?

Earlier in the week I stated that Will Ryan was a leading candidate, and ultimately I think the job will be his IF he wants it.  According to my source, this is the short list of candidates at this time (obviously without knowing which outsiders will put their name in the ring:
1.  Will Ryan
2.  Jeff Gard
3.  Todd Adrian
4.  Pat Murphy  (Sleeper-Monroe HS Boys Head Basketball Coach)
2008-09 and 2012-13 WIAC Fantasy League Champion

2008-09 WIAC Pick'Em Tri-Champion

Boston 1113

It will be interesting to see if Tordoff will still go to Platteville now that Combs is gone. Also, has anyone heard if Jason Ziemer from Verona has made a decision yet?

I think that Gard will follow Combs to Wayne State. Anyone have any conformation on that yet??
