It was St. Scholastica.

That's true, but EC only beat them by 10 last year.  And I thought it was generally accepted that EC was going to have been better last year than this.  And they weren't world beaters last year... they lost to Stout by 15 in the last game of the regular season.

EC did lose Beyer and Shea, but they have a bunch of players returning and have had a couple good recruiting classes.   I am guessing they will finish around where they did last season, with a chance of moving up the conference standings a spot or two.  I was kind of surprised the SIDs had them all the way down at the 8th spot.

Brian Carroll

LC 92 to 68 over WLU. Mane and Stratton in shooting form. One surprise- Alex Milsap got the start ahead of Andy Merklein, who played well when he got in. I'm hoping to get a look at the stats yet tonight, but I'll say the Eagle offense was  better than the "D".

Greek Tragedy

As mentioned, 92-68 La Crosse over Wisconsin Lutheran.

It's the live stats link...

Mane with 27, Stratton with 20.

Oshkosh lost to St. Norb's tonight, 60-52.

Marsh with 17, but only 4-16 from the field.

Stout goes down to Winona State, 83-66

Whitewater's roster is up...ten of the seventeen are new. Don't know much about them. Seems like a lot of guards. Good luck this year Warhawks!

UWW roster additions:

DJ Dantzler last played for UW-Parkside '08-09 and averaged about 10ppg.  Dupree Fletcher was a D1 talent (2004 AP POY) who ran afoul of the law at Evansville, went to Garden City CC in Kansas and then the Dillard U Bleu Devils (seriously!!! http://www.dillardbleudevils.com/index.php)  Marty Kujath last played for UW-Waukesha '06-08.

Just an FYI, I thought Fletcher's name sounded familiar.

Koonkaew led Falcons w/18 pts., 6 assts., followed by Hannigan and Anderson w/11 each. RF made 1/2 freethrows, Viterbo 17/23. Broadcasters kept complaining about numerous offensive fouls by RF. Viterbo did not sound like a good team (now 1-3), altho it was hard to tell how well Falcons actually played. Holding a team to less than 50 on its own court looks good.

A few observations about the RF-Viterbo game:

-Wade Guerin couldn't catch a break.  A few cheap fouls and then got hit in the nose.

-I've never seen so many offensive fouls.  You would have never seen most of them called in the WIAC.  The officials allowed almost zero contact in the post.

-Jontae Koonkaew appears in mid-season form.  His pull-up jumped couldn't be stopped.

-Freshmen Ollie White had a solid game. Missed some bunnies though.

They have a freshman named Ollie?  Does he shoot his free throws underhanded?

Platteville holds off Clarke 73-66

Last nights game was ugly...including the 16 "Clarke Crazies" that required 5 rows to stand and scream.  I liked the enthusiasm, but I was personally "forced" to move twice because Clarke College really didn't know what to do with the influx of Pioneer fans at the game.  3/4 of the people there were Platteville fans.  A little advice to Clarke College...When Loras, Dubuque, and Platteville come to play at the Kehl Center...mark sections you would like saved for your fans...chances are your fans are going to be outnumbered, so please make it easier on you visitor unless your whole purpose is to peeve them off (trying not to swear)...dun with that rant.

I think the Pioneers played with quite a bit of first game jitters.  Trying to operate without 6'10" All everything clogging up the middle on offense and defense.  Clarke, IMO is not a very good team, but last night was their 5th game of the season.  Good or not, that makes a difference.  Reminds me of my senior year and going to a scrimmage with a new system in place and playing a team with a scrimmage in already.  Sounds crazy, but it makes a difference.

Next for the Pioneers is heading to Kenosha to play Carthage and Aurora.  Hopefully they got rid of their jitters...next up is a good team and a really really good player.

Unfortunately no.  Haha.

Actually the Falcons only shot 2 free throws last night and he didnt shoot either of them... There is still hope.  :D

Sounds like Coach Miller said all the right things about Dupree Fletcher.
