Badgerwarhawk or UWW fans?

Why hasn't Chris Vines played the last couple of games? Did he get hurt?

Ankle injury. Could be out for a while.

It is possible Chris will need surgery. He will then likely apply for a medical redshirt.

Any update on if Superior's Marcus Helland will be back on the floor anytime soon for the Yellow Jackets?

I was just trying to find out from him myself...last I heard it could be as early as this week.  Once I know something I will post it.

Yeah, that one's a head-scratcher. But, on the other hand, UW-Superior owns a 13-point win over D2 Minnesota-Duluth -- and it was a game played on the Minnesota side of St. Louis Bay, to boot.

On paper this looks like a good win, but I think I read a report (here) that said UMD was without a couple of players, and possibly even their coach for the game.  Still, it's a victory against a not-usually-terrible D-II (unlike some other UM-DII's), but it may not pack the punch that it initially seems to.  Found the newspaper report on the game.  UMD is now 2-4, with their wins against Michigan Tech and Maryville (MO).  You know about Maryville... and MTU's only victory is against MSU Moorehead, who lost to St. Johns.  I think St. John's is better than advertised... but it still doesn't bode well for the competition of UMD IMO.

I read that same report, PS, and it pointed out that the absence of Marcus Helland balanced out UMD's absences.

You may be reaching a bit with the comparative-scores thing to get to that St. John's win. I don't doubt that UMD is probably not that great this year (although the Bulldogs did win 20 games last season, that was then and this is now). Nevertheless, UMD is a legit D2 program, not an interloper trying to hang with the big boys (cough Maryville cough), and D3 has only beaten D2 seven times in 32 tries this year. I still think that that's a good win for the Yellowjackets, especially since it was by double digits and it came on the Bulldogs' home court.

Trying to find the UW-Superior game at UW-River Falls. Anyone know why I can't watch, listen or follow stats?

Can' find game because...

Well, duh. Because it's not tonight. I guess I might be a little over-something.

But, let me respond, AGAIN, to the "oh, gosh, UMD lost to UW-Supers because two of it's key players and the coach had the flu" thing. One of our key players and a semi-key player didn't play and our coach left us for a younger, prettier and wealthier school. We're limping along on three bald tires, but we're still moving. I want to add that I'm particularly happy so many picked UWS to lose to River Falls; the Soups play better when expectations for them are low. I won't predict a spectacular season; I want to, but I won't lest I look even more foolish than I already do (you know, trying to listen to a game that isn't being played tonight, for instance).

badgerwarhawk

I fail to see how any of the expectations of anyone on this board could possibly influence the way Superior plays on way or the other.

If my memory serves me I picked Superior.  If that alone doesn't carry them to victory I'll be disappointed.

I understand the frustration, I really do... but each school has had to deal with a coach leaving at one time or another.  Platteville is going through it this year, too.  And except for Oshkosh and Eau Claire, each school has changed head coaches in the past decade.  And each school has to deal with injuries along the way.

It really sucks for Superior and its players in the way that it happened, especially because things were looking brighter.  Things are tough enough, being the smallest WIAC school and the most remote.  And I do hope they do well, because those players are working just as hard as everybody else.
