I saw this great quote/clip on the tv news last night, and stole it from the UWGB site:

Ryan says weather won't deter Badgers
"You're looking at a guy who was at Platteville for 15 years. We never missed a game — snow, blizzards — we found a way. We're not going to Superior. We're going to Green Bay." Even as weather experts were warning of heavy snow and wind Tuesday and Wednesday, UW-Madison coach Bo Ryan seemed adamant that he would have the 20th-ranked Badgers at the Resch Center in time for Wednesday's (Dec. 9) 7 p.m. tipoff against the Phoenix. The latest report, in fact, is that they'll have arrived in time for a Tuesday night practice."

Since it's a league game, I would imagine that UWW vs. UWSP was merely postponed to a later date and not cancelled, right?

I meant postponed...I was just ripping on Point Special since he meant Superior!  That's all...

Whitewater's week just got tougher.  Play Stevens Point tomorrow night and then I'm guessing they will have to bus to Superior on Friday.  This will be a tough turnaround.  The Yellowjackets must feel good about this piece of good fortune.

It looks like WW is still playing Northwestern tonight.  That doesn't appear to have been rescheduled.  Anybody know if the weather that far north isn't as bad as to allow them to get there/play?

So, since Whitewater's conference game against Stevens Point got cancelled, they decided to play Northwestern instead? lol :-)  I'm pretty sure you meant Superior!

Whitewater, Superior... they're close to each other if you're talking about, like, the cosmos...

Hey, they'd be considered next-door neighbors in Texas - just ask Ralph! :D

Greek Tragedy

Superior topped Northwestern (MN) 73-64.  The Yellowjackets had a 41-25 halftime lead.  Jake Smith had 22 and 5 assists, Culy and Hill had 15 (all in the first half) and 12 respectively and Aalfs led the team in rebounding with 7 boards and also chipped in with 8 points.

They were up 18 after scoring the first bucket of the 2nd half, but Northwestern trimmed it to just 5 at the 11 minute mark.  They also had it down to 2 with two minutes to go.

Marcus Helland was back in the line up, though limited in PT.  He finished 3-4 from the floor, 2-2 from downtown for 8 points and 3 rebounds in 15 minutes.  Its going to take some time for him to get his endurance back after be sidelined 4 weeks with mono.

Very interesting that they still played.  I was under the impression that all of the UW schools were shut down.  Apparently not Superior though.

Just Bill

UW-Superior remained open the whole day. Ironically, they got less snow than the rest of us.

Though UW-Superior is in the UW system, aren't they technically in Canada and thus don't have to abide to the United States by-laws concerning university campus shut-downs?  ??? :D

Old School, a word to the wise:  If Phoenix Rising reads this or it is reported to her that there may be some sarcasm regarding Superior, you could be in for a good talking to.  I know.  I have been exposed to the wrath and it isn't pretty. ;)

Remember, I'm married now.  I'm used to wraths!! lol :-/.  Obviously my comments are in good fun.  I like their team and I may pick them this weekend with Whitewater having a tough game tonight & long drive up to Canada, I mean, Superior Friday.
