Go Warhawks

I am currently a student at Whitewater.  I have been reading these forever and finally decided it is time to start posting.  I know I am new and many people might not want to hear my thoughts, but I have a few from things I have seen and read the past week or so.

I am still hoping Whitewater will find their way.  They have all the talent needed to be the best team in this league.  I cannot imagine any other team in this league having more talent than us.  Our best games are still to come and I truly believe this is Pat Miller's year.  I continue to see growth in his coaching and this team is ready to explode.   Really looking forward to the Platteville game tomorrow!  Mitchell, Dantzler and Bender are going to have a great game.  WW big tomorrow.  Mark it down!

Badger Warhawk (BW), I love your posts and insights to WW basketball.

This site overall is a great site and really provides a great forum to talk D3/WIAC basketball.

I know there was some talk about some of the officials in this league last week.  I just started doing some grade school stuff this year and I am loving it.  I know BW has mentioned he reffed as well.  Trying to learn as much as I can and would love to meet some of the WIAC refs.  I do think the WIAC has some interesting refs sometimes, and some calls that just do not make sense.  There is a tall african american guy that made the weird 10 sec call BW talked about last week.  He is not good everytime he is here.  Not that I am any better, but he seems to do everything opposite of what I have been taught or heard guys say you are supposed to do and not be overly involved.  Went to a clinic this year and heard Joe Theisen (Sp?) talk.  Great ref and really good stuff when he was teaching.  I know he refs the WIAC.  I was watching the Butler vs Wright State game this past Saturday night on ESPN2 and sure enough they mentioned the name of Peter Juzenes (sp?)  He was reffing the game.  I decided to google his name and the other guy mentioned Sezlc.  They both work some D-1 and Peter works a lot.  Saw he works in the Big Ten and the Big East because he reffed at Louisville, Wisconsin and Michigan State this year.  I have never seen him work at WW, but pretty cool we have someone like that reffing in our league.  You ever met him BW?  Are the D-1 guys nice?

Looking forward to being a part of this site.  Thanks for giving me the time.

Welcome.  Good to hear your insights.

Next year, you might consider participating in the pickem and fantasy leagues.

I guess he wasn't interested in being a part of the site too long. He cancelled his account.

Thank you for the compliment GoWARHAWKS.  I hope you will reactivate your account and become a regular poster here.  We can always use more WARHAWK guys.   Yes, I have met both Peter and Paul and both have always been nice to me.
Big game for the WARHAWKS tonight.  Hopefully we don't dig too deep a hole for ourselves and play consistantly good for 40 minutes.  We can't let that "punk" Curt Hanson go off on us. j/k about the punk thing, I couldn't help myself.

I've shared this on at least one other board on this site before, but my all-time-favorite sign at a baseball game was one I saw on TV during a Yankees @ Red Sox game at Fenway in 2006, the year that Johnny Damon defected from the Red Sox and signed with the hated Bronx Bombers. One Red Sox fan held up a sign that said this:

JOHNNY DAMON

That is a good one Greg.

Speaking of signs at Yankee - Red Sox games I saw one this year that brought a chuckle only it was on a t-shirt.  A small baby was at the game with his father and the baby's t-shirt read...."I'm not even one year old and I already hate the Red Sox."

Speaking of that "punked" thing:  I ran into Will Ryan last night at our HS game as he is an assistant at NDSU and was looking at a kid from Superior.  He tells me that Hanson is not a punk but a great kid.  It was a blast talking to Will about playing for his dad, being on his staff, future plans, not getting the current Platteville job, and a bunch of other stuff.  What a great young man.  I plan to have him on our radio show in two weeks.

I'll tell you that it was neat and weird all rolled into one for me.  Having played some with Will when he was here in Platteville, then close to 10 years later, being a part of the search and screen committee for the head coaching position.  Will is always fun to be around, especially when it is so hard to see him these days now that he obviously is quite busy at NDSU.  I'm sure he'll be a good guest on the show.  I'd come introduce myself on Saturday if you're covering the game but I'll be in Neenah/Menasha (always find it tough to say them separately...mainly to annoy my friend from the latter of the two) playing with your esteemed alumnus, as well as an Oshkosh Alum.  Go Pioneers!

Updated Standings Through 2/10
TeamRecord
Whitewater10-3
Point10-3
Stout8-6
La Crosse7-7
Superior6-7
Platteville6-7
Eau Claire6-7
Oshkosh4-10
River Falls3-10

Not much change in the standings, other than La Crosse moving up from 7th to 4th, with Superior, Platteville, and Eau Claire each sliding down a spot.  However in the grand scheme of things, La Crosse, Superior, Eau Claire, and Platteville are essentially tied, as they all sit with seven losses.

My prediction is that whoever loses between Eau Claire and Superior a week from tonight will end up being the team that ends up missing out on the WIAC Tournament.
