This actually carries through all the way to the National Championship game... all games are played Friday/Saturday (except those previously excluded).  Check out the dates on the top of the brackets.

Am I right that Hope is one of the schools that does not play on Sundays?  So I think that means the Stevens Point regional will be played on Friday and Saturday.

Don't they always have the regionals on Friday and Saturday in a 4-pod?

Duh. You're right. I was thinking of other sports.

Who's up for a UWSP-UWW national title game?  Theortically possible this year.

Absolutely.  And it would be as much of a battle as the other 3 games, I guarantee!

I thought we'd be playing in Kenosha at Carthage.   It's interesting that they'd import a team from Indiana and send one that's 50 miles away from Carthage 460 miles to Ohio.  Grove City (116 miles) and Defiance (162 miles) are much closer to Wooster.

Give em credit BW, the NCAA Committee finally put some effort into splitting up the most powerful regions.

In NCAA terms 460 miles, 116 miles and 162 miles are the exact same thing because they are all less than 500 miles.  They only look two categories, "Greater than 500 miles" and "Less than 500 miles".  That's a good thing because it gives them maximum flexibility in balancing the brackets. This is the first year the men's committee took full advantage of it.

Last year we whined that they DIDN'T send anyone out of region. It's a little disingenious this year to whine about getting sent of region, just because it happens to be your team.

Congrats to Stevens Point on winning the WIAC Tournament and being named as a host site for the NCAA Tournament.  It wasn't always a pretty game, but it was entertaining.

Just Bill -  Agree with everything that you mentioned above.  Clearly the NCAA was trying to spread the basketball powers.  Thus Wash U, Stevens Pt, St. Thomas or Carthage would not face the likes of a Whitwater or Whitworth until the National Championship game.   If the NCAA had followed the same procedure as last year, all 6 of those teams would be in the same regional.

Must be a disappointing morning for Coach Miller and the Warhawks.  Whitewater wins the season series with Stevens Point 2-1 (St. Pt hosting), Won the WIAC Regular Season Championship (Which doesn't matter to the NCAA), Won at Carthage (Carthage hosting) and their SOS is 2nd in the Country.  Yet... it still isn't enough to host either the 1st weekend or 2nd weekend of the NCAA Tournament.  Ouch.

Good luck to both St. Point and Whitewater.  We know you'll represent the WIAC well.

It is kind of a tough break for Whitewater.  They were the #1 seed going into the last rankings.  I didn't think a loss would drop them down that far.  Apparently it did.

They have a tough road.  They would play Wooster at Wooster in the 2nd round and then possibly Guilford Sweet 16...and then a rematch with Whitworth in the Elite 8.

Point plays Carleton, then either Hope or St. Norb's and possibly Wash. U. in the Elite 8.

Those of us in Wooster look forward to hosting the Warhawks and their fans this weekend.  If both teams advance, it should be a great game.

Yeah, the locations weren't at issue last year... it was the competition.

I, too, think that Whitewater got a bit of the shaft in terms of how far they have to travel, but I do think that if they had won on Saturday, then they would have gotten the opportunity to host.

Point I don't think would have gone to Wooster... because that trip is farther than 500 miles and would have required a flight.  The Whitewater to Wooster trip is just under 500... 484 according to Google Maps, which I'm fairly certain will make this the longest bus trip of the tournament.  But I think that Whitewater has a very good chance of making it out of Wooster alive.

Whitewater is going to have an uphill battle... but I think that they're

I guess sometimes it's good to step outside of your geographic region.  We'll see teams that we've never seen before and teams that haven't seen us.
