Point is having a celebration at the Quandt on Wednesday evening and there's going to be an autograph session.  My wife wants a Matt Moses autograph badly.  What are the odds of me getting it for her?
Probably about as good as you over-reacting to the next Pointer baseball loss.......

I'm just worried if he seen my wife and knew her obsession with him that he'd take her home.  She's easy on the eyes.  I can handle the crap about the baseball team but it's just hard to watch a team so talented underachieve.  I'm taking off work on the 7th for Oshkosh and am hoping I'm not disappointed.  By the way I have top of the line health insurance and appreciated the quote about my ankles from jumping off and on.  One things for certain I will always be a Pointer fan win or lose.  I can handle losing if the talent's just not there but it seems to be a yearly routine early on taking teams lightly and playing to their level of competition.  Why not just come out and pound the piss out of everyone all year?

It was just all in good fun......  Was hoping to get a laugh out of people.

Because it's just not that easy...  It seems as if more WIAC programs are starting to improve, which makes it difficult to "pound the piss out of people" on a consistent basis, unless of course you happen to have a "special" group.  Be thankful as a fan that they seem to play their best at the end of the year, and not vice-versa.

So now that Kowalczyk is gone at UWGB (took the Toledo job) who are the leading candidates to replace him?  Anyone in the WIAC a possibility?  I'll put my money on UW assistant Greg Gard or maybe even former UWGB standout Gary Grezesk, the current coach at St. Norbert.

I would be curious to see what the interest level is for Semling.....

I think's its Greg Gard's job first if wants it.  After that, I think it's a dead heat between Greszk and Brian Wardle (current GB assistant) if Wardle doesn't follow to Toledo.

Too soon for Wardle ... his only true assistant experience is at UWGB.

Don't under-estimate Greszk's appeal.

How about an outsider such as TJ Otzelberger; Iowa State assistant, former Thomas More and UWW player.

I would like to see Gary Grezesk get it but doubt he will.  If he would get hired does anyone think Coach Murphy would leave Seymour to take Norberts?  I've heard a lot of rumors over the years that Murphy would love to get on the staff at UWGB.

Wausau area and at least one Green Bay TV station are already mentioning Semling as a leading candidate for the UWGB job. He just may fit the bill as he was an assistant there from '96-02.

My speculation on post #10263 ... about the staff remaining together, the hiring of Randall as a potential replacement ... maybe this is more true than not!

I read in the Journal-Sentinel that Gard came to Wisconsin after turning down the opportunity to coach at Toledo 5 years ago.

Why would someone take a UWGB job that by all right's is a step down from the Toledo job?

If they used the phrase "leading candidate" I'd say they are inflating their own local perspective just a bit.  I imagine his name will be discussed, but I don't think he's in the first cut of candidates.

I don't know but that assumes he perceives it as a step down.

NBC 15 was reporting that Bo Ryan has contacted the UWGB search committee to recommend Gard for the head coaching job.  If that is true I don't think he'd do that if Gard wasn't interested in the job to begin with.

You are probably right but don't underestimate the amount of "back-room" or better yet "bar-room" discussions that go on.

I'm sure UWGB's AD has a list of 5 to 10 guys that he has talked to and said something to the effect "if Todd K were to leave after the end of next season ... what is your interest level?  What would you salary demands be? ...".  Usually any good AD has this list solidified long before any action is made public.

Because Toledo is in Ohio and Green Bay is in Wisconsin.  He awfully familiar with the recruits in this area, plus being from the area (state),  it would probably be a good, comfortable, place to start.
