Pat Coleman

Also, at UWGB, he would continue working toward his state pension.

I wonder if Jack Bennett would come out of retirement for a D1 job.  ??? ::)

Pat makes a good point.  Wisconsin has a great retirement plan IF you stay in it until agee 55.

Point is having a celebration at the Quandt on Wednesday evening and there's going to be an autograph session.  My wife wants a Matt Moses autograph badly.  What are the odds of me getting it for her?

Enough with this wishy-washy coaching speculation! Let's get onto something more pressing, more important! Ha.  ;)

Pickleshiner - did you go to the trophy presentation/signing session last night and get the autograph?

But anyway, it will be interesting to see how the UWGB opening plays out, that's for sure...

Interesting article.  Lack of a salary won't prevent good candidates from signing on ... but what it might end up doing is making UWGB a pit stop for coaches.

If the administration is willing to accept that fact then there shouldn't be much of a problem.

As a Pointer fan, the more candidates the better!  I'd hate to see Semling leave.  Unlike when Jack Bennett left and Semling was there to replace him, I'm not sure if we have a readily-available assistant or someone in mind that can jump right in and not miss a beat.  No offense to Randall.

Semling has the prospect of going for back-to-back championships with four of five starters returning, though losing Moses is a huge blow.  Four seniors will be in the starting rotation next year in Hurd, Hoelzel, Krull and Jenkins.  Getting a big raise and going to a D1 program could easily trump that though!

Again the cynical person in me thinks that the Randall hiring was orchestrated to put a successor on staff for a year or two behind Semling.

Certainly the prospect of going back-to-back is appealing but the window of opportunity to get a D1 job is so small that if it were there, and Semling wanted to do it, that he would be silly to turn it down.

Specific to a "big" raise ... all of that is a matter of perspective ... the reason Todd K is leaving is because of money.  I'm certain UWGB will pay better than UWSP!

Specific to Porter Moser ... I've met him and followed him while he was at Illinois State.  It is absolutely true the ISU squad went 25-11 the year after he was fired.  It is also widely believed that much of the reason for the leap in performance was because the new coach (Jankovich from Kansas) utilized the talent better.

Moser is a Creighton U grad.

I can tell you from personal experience that not providing a salary range definitely discourages HIGHLY QUALIFIED potential candidates.  Schools that do that are trying to get a body on the cheap.
