So the prep school route really worked out then?  I'm guessing LaCrosse was recruiting him prior to going to prep school last year.  Don't most kids go the prep school route to try to get a scholarship or possibly help their grades?  Don't think grades were an issue for Taylor.
I think he tore his knee after a handful of games ... so that would have ruined the scholarship capability

That would explain it, Billy.  If grades were an issue, he wouldn't have gotten into La Crosse.  And if he could get a D1 scholarship, he wouldn't come here.

The knee would explain more, but my question to anyone who saw him play in HS, was he a scholarship level player or knee injury or not is he a WIAC player?  I do know a good number of WIAC players would be scholarship players in other states, say MN with the NSIC.

Let me try saying this another way.  For anyone who saw Taylor in HS and I was not one of them, was he

A) Going to be a scholarship level player before the injury?

or

B) Was he going to end up in the WIAC regardless of what happened in that year of prep school?

Any other recruiting news?

Fall Creek forward Lucas Tweed chose LaCrosse over a few D2 offers and UWSP.  I personally was hoping Point would get him but oh well stay home so mom and dad can watch you finish 3rd place in the WIAC when you could've played for a national title at UWSP this year and the next 4 years.

Another Wisconsin high school player picks a WIAC school other than Point.  This is getting to be a trend.  :D

From what I hear he was a borderline scholarship player but definitely closer to D2 than D1. I'm not sure if he had D2 offers or not. That said, an extra year at a great age for development (especially physically) could have been huge for him.

Getting himself out to Pennsylvania probably could have helped as well. There are a lot of small D1's out in that region in a relatively small radius; it only takes one with some scholarships open or the right school to see him at the right time.

I think it's fair to say he was close enough to being a scholarship player at some level that the prep school route could have made it happen.

He likes everything Minnesota, so I'm glad he's going "out of state" to Stout! lol  ;D :D

Besides, trend or no trend, we seemed to have done just fine with all the recruits "picking a WIAC school other than Point"  :-X :) ;) :D

Thanks Billys.

Just seems like way to often kids go to prep school or juco because they think it will automatically lead to a scholarship and often times you don't ever hear much about those kids again.  Just a general observation I've had.  And without seeing him play I was just curious so thank you for your take.

Any info from Superior on the coaching situation?

You guys might well be playing for a national title for the next 4 years but you need to brush up on your geography.  Fall Creek to SP and Fall Creek to LX are about the same distance so the "stay home" comment might be a tad off.

Watch out for them Crickets!  ;)

I did several FC games this year and I said all year long that I thought Reetz was the best hs player I covered this year.  Having said that, there were several times that I thought Reetz wasn't even the best player in the FC line-up.  It was Tweed.  I think he will be an outstanding WIAC player.  Wish he had chosen Stout.  Way closer than LX or Point. ::)

Don't worry BlueDevilBob and stoutguy, I won't blow your cover!   ;)

Sorry, but I was sitting on 666 posts and needed to post something to get off the mark of the beast. Ha.
