Oshkosh has some FVA guys playing Lawrence in the "Super Bowl" on Wednesday night.
As bad as Oshkosh looked against SNC last week, they DOMINATED Lawrence in the Super Bowl, as they led by as many as 21 with under 3:00 left to go.  Lawrence closes game on a 15-3 run to make final score look respectable 75-66.

I would argue that only Schimpf dominated with 6 threes; the rest of the action was about even. I will admit it is hard to sit in a nearly empty gym and listen to Van Dellen work the refs for 40 minutes straight.  Does he do that every game or was it the pressure of the Super Bowl?

Just Schrimpf?  You must have been too busy watching Van Dellen to notcie Wojahn's 19 points and 6 rebounds off the bench or Flanagan's double-double (13 points and 10 rebounds.)  Heck Kellner was in double-figures with 11 points as well.....

As far as working the refs, Lawrence outshot UWO 28-8 from the FT line, so it obviosly wasn't a factor.....

Have a nice holiday, cubs.  It's not that important.  It wasn't Lawrence's Super Bowl.

Greek Tragedy

Actually, it was the Lawrence fans, specifically your boy T2K, that felt it was their Super Bowl, because they were playing their bigger & supposedly better WIAC neighbor.  It wasn't our creation.

ROTFLMAO

The WARHAWKS defeated Wisconsin Lutheran 82-67 last night.  Judging by the final score you would think it was a walk in the park for the HAWKS.  However that would be wrong as the lead was a single point, 33-32, at half and WL trailed by only six points with two minutes to play before the WARHAWKS finished the game with a 14-5 run.  Five WARHAWKS scored in double figures.  Chris Davis led the way with 21 points while Antone Byrd had 16 points, DJ Danzler 13 points, Cody Odegaard 12 points and Alex Edmunds 11 points.  Davis also had 15 rebounds, 3 blocks and 4 steals.  Danzler led the team with 7 assists.

There is a new rule that you may notice during the course of the season.  It relates to an injured player who is suppose to attempt merited free throws.  If an injured player is unable to attempt the free throw the opposing coach gets to select the player to shoot from the remaining four players on the floor.

This rule seems kind of strange to me.  After all in some cases it will be the opposing team that is responsible for the player being injured in the first place and then you allow their coach to decide who will shoot in his place.  That doesn't seem quite right.  For instance what if the foul is ruled intentional.

That rule was actually put in place before last season...

I'm not sure what the right way to handle this is.  I hated the old handling, because about 5 years ago I actually saw a terrible FT shooter fake an injury in the final 30 seconds of a big game, with the coach then sending his best FT shooter to the line.

In the event of an intentional or flagarant foul this new rule does not apply. The coach of the team who gets the free throws will get the option to use one of the four players on the floor, or sub in a replacement shooter from the bench.

Really, I guess it never came up last year.  This year one of the officials made a point of coming over to the scorer's table prior to the tip off and asking the scorer to record the numbers of the remaining players in the event it happened.  Then, of course, it did.  I was kind of funny because the WL coach picked one player but his own player urged him not to pick that player and to pick a different one instead.  So the coach changed who he had selected to the one his players told him to.  That player made one of the two free throws awarded.  Ironically it was the worst free throw shooter (on this night) who had been injured so whoever they selected was a better shooter.

Thanks, Bill.  That makes sense.

Oshkosh loses at buzzer to same MSOE team, 65-62.  Four Titans in double figures, with Flanagan and Wojahn leading the way with 15 points each.  They also grab 8 and 5 rebounds respectively.  Wittwer and Kellner chip in 11 points apiece.

MSOE was able to overcome losing the turnover battle by holding the advantage in both FG% and FT made.  MSOE comitted 13 turnovers (which led to 17 UWO points) while UWO had just 6, although two of them were in the final 1:30 of the game.
