Superior led by 7 with 2:03 to go but Platteville battled back and forced OT.  The Pios took their largest lead at 3 in the OT.  With Superior up 1, Allen hit 2 FT's with 4 seconds left in OT but Jake Smith scored with :01 for the 80-79 Superior victory.

That's the third straight really narrow loss by Platteville and at least 2 of those was at the buzzer, if not all 3.

Question: Why do Point fans always have to swear at the ref when there are live mics right next to them? I was a little disappointed with the class of some of the Point fans (understand I am not saying they are all like that or anything like that). But first off why swear at the ref to begin with, let alone so it goes over my air?

Btw, Point couldn't stop RF from going to the basket. That was my key to the Falcon victory tonight.

After this loss, Point should probably just look forward to next year.  Maybe get a better look at some of the freshman and consider this a lost season.  Possibly make some trades and dump some salary while getting some prospects in return.  If things really go south, Point could be in line for a Top 10 draft pick! 

I think we all knew River Falls wasn't the 8th best team in the league!  Congrats to the Falcons.

It does not seem normal for two Pointer starters to total just 3 pts. Krull played 36 minutes, more than any other starter, and got 2 points, shooting just twice. Hoelzel scored just one point. Maybe Krull did lots of the "little things" I did  not see, but he did not make an obvious contribution.

After RF ran up a 16-4 lead, SP clamped down on the perimeter and frustrated RF, eventually tieing the score at 25, then taking a 5-6 point lead, only to see it dwindle to 31-30 at half.

Then, in what looked like an adjustment, Koonkaew began to drive, picking up several layups and scoring 18 second half points. And Voeltz, at only 6'4", scrambled for 11 rbds, 6 offensive, mostly in that second half. He finished with a double/double, including 17 pts.  The Falcons outrebounded SP by  9.

Harris is an outstanding player. Once, after Koonkaew seemed to have stopped him on a drive, he reversed himself and spun around K. for an easy layup.

RF is a better team than I've been giving them credit for, but this was  probably Point's low performance of the season. They will be very difficult to de-throne.

One more thing:  I may be wrong, but without checking records, I think this was the first Falcon win over SP since 2004 when Melzer was a senior and RF won the title.

Freddy the Mayor, you are correct about that fact below. Great win for the Falcons today, and hopefully they can keep the momentum going. Manor, Udo, and Kimble are great contributions to this veteran RF squad.

When was the last time Point, Whitewater, and Platteville all lost on the same day in conference play? Somebody research that stat.

One more thing:  I may be wrong, but without checking records, I think this was the first Falcon win over SP since 2004 when Melzer was a senior and RF won the title.

Congrats to the Falcons....keep it rolling baby!  Gotta love taking down the champs!

EC did a lot of things well vs La Crosse ... especially rebounding and sharing the ball .... four guys in double digits ..Marcus  Ruh with 23. Ruh vs. Mane was great to watch ... Mane had 28 despite tremendous defense. Mane showed he can drive when you take away the outside.. had only one 3-pter. Chery was tough in the first half, but got into foul trouble in the 2nd half. Eagles don't have enough weapons besides those two, at least in this one.

Fofana's size 20's were put to good use... 19 pts, 7 rebounds. Ivan Franklin and Craggs were also in double digits. Blugolds led from wire-to-wire.

EC @ RF should be interesting Wed. it always is!

Can anyone explain to me why coaches are more and more often staying in the locker room and then "making an entrance" just before tipoff? What can they do in the locker room at that point to better prepare their team to win?

Krull lead the team in rebounds (6), assists (4), blocks (1) and steals (2).  Hoelzel and Krull aren't there to score.  They are there to play defense and rebound.  Last year, Point had Hurd, Moses and Jenkins to do the scoring, among others.  And yeah, they do tend to do the "little things" as well.
