Oshkosh is going to win 4 or less games in the WIAC this year.  Tragic.
And based off how they played against Lawrence and SNC, they would probably finish in the Top 4 of the MWC and qualify for the conference tournament and have a chance at an automatic bid.  Point won more games in the NCAA Tournament last season, than the MWC has in the last three seasons combined.  Yet the MWC will get a bid again this season, and maybe two if SNC stumbles in the MWC Tournament. Tragic...

Thanks for that completely useless information.

The WARHAWKS were stranded in Superior last night as well.  We asked Superior to move the game times up but they refused.  Though it probably wouldn't have mattered.  The weather was bad enough that we probably couldn't have driven home either way.

Despite shooting well, 54%, in the first half the WARHAWKS trailed 44-38 because Superior shot an even better 64% including 8-10 from beyond the three point line.  The basket must have looked as big as the ocean for those guys.  A 15-0 run over the first four minutes of the second half gave the WARHAWKS their biggest lead of the game 53-44 and they never trailed after that shooting 60% from the floor.

Chris Davis led all scorers with 21 points and pulled down 8 rebounds.  Alex Edmunds added 18 points, Antone Bryd 16 points (4-4 three pointers) and DJ Danzler finished with 14 points.

Neither team missed a free throw with both going 7-7.

Jake Smith led the Yellow Jackets with 18 points.

There's nothing at all tragic about it, cubs. This is the way that the NCAA works. Every member conference gets an automatic bid to the tournament, whether in D1, D2, or D3. The NCAA takes its commitment to full membership participation for all schools and conferences very seriously.

Speaking as a fan of a power conference, sure, there's seasons in which I felt that the CCIW got the short end of the stick on Selection Sunday when Pool C bids were handed out. But I'd never want that extra bid to come at the expense of taking away the automatic bid of a conference that pays its dues, plays by the rules, and enjoys full NCAA membership. That's not what D3 is all about.

As for St. Norbert rolling up a big regular-season record and then stumbling in the MWC tourney, there are various criteria involved in the Pool C selection process that work against at-large aspirants from weaker leagues and in favor of teams from power conferences who're looking for postseason berths.

They asked to move the games from 1pm & 3pm to 11am & 1pm.   Like I said I don't think it would have mattered we were still spending the night in Superior.

Sorry, but I was venting.

I live in the Appleton area and there is a team within 25 minutes from a solid conference (UW-Oshkosh, where I got my undergrad degree) but they are so inconsistent and have not been a winner at the level I think they should have been since I've been here, which is 1996.  I really believe, and this is just my opinion, that Bob Semling or John Tharp or Jack Bennett would have one at least one national title with the Oshkosh lineups of the past 10 years.  Obviously they haven't even been close.  If that is too direct, my apologies.

So I watch Lawrence play and drive up to Point occasionally and wish UW-Oshkosh will someday become the power they should be.

I will be a good citizen and my apologies for ripping on cubs.  It isn't his fault.

So 2003 isn't considered "close" when they fell in the Elite 8?   ::)  I'd hate to see what you consider "close" then.
We will never agree so I will allow you to win, it's your board.  You know where I stand.   :-X
Hey, there's no need to take your ball and go home!!!  I'm just trying to throw out some facts!!!  Outside of TVD, I believe Semling is the only coach to get their team to the Elite 8 (or did Gibbons make it as well?)  I'm all for a good discussion, but would rather have some facts to back things up instead of just opinion.

News out of Platteville... they've   got a new SIDThe old one, Paul Erickson, apparently took a position at UIC in October and had been at Platteville for 14 years.  He checked this board an posted occasionally.  I wish him well!

Scratch that.  Story comprehension 101... read the whold thing!

The story still applies... but Paul is still at Platteville, just a new position at the University Information and Communications dept (not U of Illinois Chicago!).  I still wish him well in the new position, but it looks like he will likely still be around!

I'd like to talk about venues and average attendence at WIAC venues and a fewe more around the country.

I know I didn't have to get a pre-game ticket for Point vs. Carroll last year, but did need one for another WIAC game there.  What does that place hold?  Plastic seats remind me of McDonalds but the ball there is always good.

I attended a few games in Eau Claire in the Anderson NAIA era.  Impressive back then.

Also liked the Whitewater gym but that was an NCAA tourney game when Lawrence played Wheaton.  1 point loss by that perenially weak MWC champ  ::) to a team that went to the Final 4 as I recall, but I digress.  I kind of get all those NCAA tournament gyms mixed up as we waltz in every year as an undeserving visitor in such a potentially stellar field.  I know Wash U and Stevens Point just crush us every time, usually in overtime ;)

The best physical D3 facility I've been to is the one at Illinois Wesleyan.  I heard that Hope has a great place, someday.  My favorite is Alexander Gym at Lawrence.

I know I can bring my whole neighborhood to an Oshkosh game and not worry about there being limits on room.   Kind of odd that 400 people show up in a 6,000 seat arena, with half of them being faculty and family.  Not worth the $8.....I would suggest they let you in for free and have a donation based on how they play.  I would pay $8 for a win, except for Finlandia and Silver Lake, $2.  Should move the games to Albee for some home court advantage. Of course the parking nazis are an issue wherever they play.

How about everywhere else?
