Also liked the Whitewater gym but that was an NCAA tourney game when Lawrence played Wheaton.  1 point loss by that perenially weak MWC champ  ::) to a team that went to the Final 4 as I recall, but I digress.  I kind of get all those NCAA tournament gyms mixed up as we waltz in every year as an undeserving visitor in such a potentially stellar field.  I know Wash U and Stevens Point just crush us every time, usually in overtime ;)
So now a 1st Round loss to a team that makes the Final Four is supposed to be a big deal, but losing in the Elite Eight to a team that obviously made the Final Four doesn't count?  All I can say is WOW!!!   ::)

??? Wheaton's never been to the D3 Final Four, and I can't remember Wheaton ever playing Lawrence in the D3 tourney. Perhaps you're thinking of Illinois Wesleyan, which beat Lawrence during the Chris Braier era en route to a Final Four appearance in 2006, but that sectional was held at Lawrence's Alexander Gym.

Greek Tragedy

Anyone know anything about Joe Allen of Platteville?  Where did he transfer from?  He's listed as a senior but didn't play with them before.  The recruits article only mentioned freshman.

I think it was 2007 or so.  Lawrence lost to Wheaton in OT and Loras shocked Whitewater on their home court.  Wheaton beat Loras but lost to Hope in Elite 8, I think.  Hope lost to Wash U in Final Four.  I did remember being at Whitewater for those first round games.

EB, Quandt officially seats 2784.

Point only sells per-seat tickets for games they think are going to sell out (as opposed to general admission) and/or games for which the opposing teams get a certain allotment (i.e. NCAA tournament games).

I wasn't there for any of these games last year, but from everything I could tell from pictures/video, there were more people there for the WW @ Point game (gen admission) in January than the NCAA tournament games in February (pre-sale, buy a ticket for your seat), but there are lots of other factors that go into this... For one, students are free for regular season games but not NCAA tournament games.  Also, it's a bit of a hastle sometimes to get tickets... the host team likely could sell more tickets if they allotted those tickets to themselves, but NCAA rules designate that they have to provide a certain percentage to the other participating teams...  Point could then sell whichever tickets they got back, but the fact that there are tickets being sold again needs to be communicated... meaning that people who didn't get tickets initially and heard that they were gone likely wouldn't get the word that there were more left.

The Shirk at IWU is nice and I also like Wheaton and Carthage from the CCIW.  Hope and Calvin both have brand new gyms arenas.  I also really liked Rose Hulman's when I went there for the women's final 4 in '02.

Point is my favorite in the WIAC and I think it's one of the top facilities in the country.  It helps that it's regularly full, but even half full, there are still 1000 fans in the stands.  Stout is my second favorite in the WIAC, and then probably Whitewater.

WOW! Just watching the video feed for the UWRF game.  Shane Manor just threw down one of the sickest dunks I've seen.  Similar to Tillemas from last season, but might even be better

tomt4525

I've gotta see that dunk then....I don't know if it can touch Tillema's last year but if it's close it's worth seeing....would it be online somewhere after the game?

That's the one plus the loss to Stevens Point in the Elite 8 at Spokane in OT.  OR was it 2 OT?  And the OT loss to Wash U 2 years ago.  Plenty from the perenially weak MWC champ.  I wish my alma mater would do that.   :'(

I think it is a VERY close comparison when you look at Lawrence and Oshkosh when they both had one of those "special" players on the roster.  In UWO's case Dworak and for LU Braier.

Braier
2003-No Post-season Lost in 1st round of Conference Tournament
2004-Lost in Elite
2005-2nd Round Loss
2006-Lost in Sweet 16

Dworak
2000-No Post-season-Lost in Conference Tournament Semifinals
2001-No POst-season-Lost in Conference Tournament Championship to Eau Claire
2002-Lost in Sweet 16
2003-Lost in Elite 8

Without a player like that both teams have had a tough time competing at the National Level..... regardless of how many times you want to mention a 1st Round loss to Wash U.  Oshkosh has not made the National Tournament since Dworak played his last game, and LU has not won a game in two NCAA appearances since Braier took off the LU uniform for the last time.
