Maybe he's graduating in December anyway and getting a jump on the job market.
Wouldn't that just be another reason not to play 1st semester??

And it wasn't really that close.  The lead was as much as 44.

BTW, Harris was the Vegas tourney MVP
Tyler Tillema was also on the all-tourney team.

Northwestern, MN wins Eau Claire Holiday Classic, beating EC in the finals, 69-58. Amadou Fofana had 15 in the 1st half ...just 2 in the second half as NW doubled him every time. Northwestern is a very disciplined team that spreads you out and, if they shoot well, plays solid b-ball. UW-EC still a work in progress. Addition of Jordan Peterson (Eleva-Strum/Winona State) next semester and Spencer Tollefson (EC Memorial/Northern Michigan) next year ... announced this week.

One of my buddies coached in the same conference as Tollefson last year and as soon as Tollefson signed with Northern Michigan, my buddy told me he'd never make it at that level.  I guess he was right.

No. If he was graduating and still had one semester of eligibility left why shouldn't he play if he wants to?  Or why should he sit around waiting until second semester when he could play, graduate and get a job?

My original comment was in regards to Eddie, and not Thomas. By playing Thomas during first semester, when he already knew he would be without Thomas second semester, it was short-sighted.  He could have gotten other players minutes to help better prepare them fir WIAC play.  Does that make sense?

Yes, but it's also cold to kick a guy off the team because he doesn't have the eligibility to play both semsters. Good job to Eddie for letting him play out his career, if indeed that was the case.  That's good D-III philosophy in action.

I never said to kick him off the team....  I meant it would have been a good idea to "lessen" his role over the course of the first part of the season so that you were more ready once second semester rolled around when Thomas was no longer around.

Greek Tragedy

I'm with Just Bill here.  Why NOT let a player play simply because he won't be around 2nd semester?  That's completely not fair to the player.  Even if I was a teammate, it'd be hard to get mad at said player for wanting to play his final semester of eligibility, even if it meant less playing time for me.  Is it fair for the TEAM?  I don't think it's unfair.

Plus, it's obvious he was an important part of the team.  Play him and get as many minutes as possible out of him.

I think you're really splitting hairs, cubs.  If he plays a little bit less so someone else can play a little bit more do you really think that's going to translate into an extra win in the second semester? Maybe, but there's probably 10 other things Eddie can do (and likely is doing) to improve his team more.

Just a few things about the whole Thomas situation.  I heard that Thomas filled an appeal to the NCAA to maybe get an extra semester of eligibility.  The NCAA process is slow though so the season could be over before they even get to his case.  So I think Eddie played him hoping that he would have him for 2nd semester.

After trailing 42-32 at half, RF beats Sioux Falls U., 77-67. Manor and Voeltz led scorers with 24, 17 respectively. Falcons missed 16 f.t. (22/38) and lots of bunnies, but played harder on both ends second half.
