Assumptions from the broadcast, box scores:  Koonkaew, Negri had below par games. Odegard, Voeltz, Kimble, White had better than usual games.

What happened to Manor at the end of regulation? The announcer said he had a bandage on his head after a collision with a WW player. Must not have been too serious considering his performance in OT.

Manor and Edmunds butted heads on an inbound play.  With 4-5 seconds left RF had the ball out of bounds in front of their bench.  The ball came in to Manor who moved forward with it.  At the same time Edmunds stepped in to defend and the two collided.  Edmunds picked up the foul but Manor was bleeding so he was unable to shoot it.  By rule Miller got to select the shooter and he selected Kimble who made the first free throw to tie the game but missed the second one to send it into overtime.  Nothing went right for the WARHAWKS and to their credit RF did what they needed to do to put the game away.

It was a frustrating loss for us.  We had a 7 point lead with 3 minutes to play and over the next two minutes turned the ball over three times.  Suddenly the 7 point lead was 1 which we were able to maintain until the closing seconds.  But you have to give RF credit.  They cranked the defense up a couple of notches, converted their possessions into scores and found a way to win.

Chris Davis had another double-double (22 points, 15 rebounds), his 7th in a row and 9th on the season, and played 43 minutes.  Cody Odegaard  had his best game of the year with 20 points which included 4-5 from beyond the arc.  DJ Dantzler finished with 18 points and was 10-11 from the free throw line.

It was really a game of streaks. RF had 15-6 and 13-4 runs in the first half.  The WARHAWKS countered with 9-0 and 15-3 runs in the half and led by one 37-36 at the end of it.  RF started the second half with a 6-0 run but later the WARHAWKS went on a 20-2 run to take their largest lead at 61-49 with just under nine minutes to play.  RF answered with 5-0 to get to 61-54 and later 6-0 to get within a single point 73-72 with a minute and half to play.  Finally RF used an 11-2 run to put the game away in overtime.

Well, the way Point trounced La Crosse, I'm glad to read that it was their best game of the year.  ::)

Last time Falcons won at WW... 2004. I think we won something that year?

And you got beat in the Conference Semis by us and in Karges, ending your season.  Hope that isn't what you're shooting for this year.

This could be a tough week for Point...

They got Macalester tonight at 5:00.  I'm not going to say that the Scots are worldbeaters... but they did just win their first game in 27 tries last Wednesday against St. Johns.  They lost their last one on Saturday to Hamline... but they've been pretty competitive in a number of their games (6 of their 9 losses have been 10 points or less, including games against 3 of the MIAC front runners, St. Thomas, Gustavus Adolphus, and Hamline).

I have a feeling that Point's depth and system will wear Mac down and they'll prevail... but I'm just worried that it could be more like the La Crosse game than the Oshkosh game (where they push the lead to a comfortable level in the second half, rather than the first.

The reason that it is a concern...  is that Point goes to Platteville Wednesday (quick turnaround, 3rd longest trip) and to Superior Saturday (longest trip).

Platteville is a bit of a head scratcher... they won 4, lost 5 (4 of them last possession games) and now have won 5.  They seem to be playing right with everybody, but the next 3 games for them will be key... they host Point,  then travel to RF and to WW.

Superior has looked good this year, but they haven't been able to quite get it done against 3 of the conference's better teams (lost at home to RF by 4, at home to WW by 6, and on the road to LaX by 2).  They stand at 2-3 right now, and I don't want to say this is a must-win for them... but they're going to dig themselves quite a bit of a hole if they want to contend for the conference title (maybe a stretch even at this point) and they have to be careful or they may be fighting their way into the conference tournament.

Superior will be a tough game, no doubt.  Last year we were lucky to pull out a win up there.

It would be a great sign for the near future if the Pointers get through these two conference games unscathed.  The defending national champs is a tough spot to be in, you get everybody's best shot.

My prediction... Pointers win all by double-digits.

My prediction... Pointers win all by double-digits.

Massey has the PLT and Sup games as 9 point wins... 2% more confidence in the Sup game than the Plt game, interestingly (though Sup is actually the higher ranked team per Massy, #23 vs. #42).

Here's the +/- thusfar for the conference schedule (+1 for a win on the road, -1 for a loss at home, +0 for loss on the road or a win at home)

Point's slow start can be attributed to missing good shots early and being mugged many times. Several shots in the first half by Macalester were line drive from the hip types that went in somehow. The crowd was sparse and quiet, I could hear the guy four rows in front of me munching his popcorn :P  With about 8 minutes to go in the first, Point turned up the pressure, with three subs in the game and got several steals leading to baskets inside. The second half was more tenacious "D" and great ball movement. DeVon Jackson became a black hole at the end, shooting quick jumpers or forcing inside drives resulting in TO's. The coach is showing faith in the bench and it is paying off, going at least nine deep with little drop off. Long road trips this week with  P-ville on Wed and Suptown on Sat.

Here's an amazing kid that recently moved from Wisconsin to Washington State. Too bad for Wisconsin fans. Looks like the 2nd coming of Pistol Pete Maravich.

My source let me know today that Mahlons ruling came in and he's finished.

Hopefully Stout can pull it together and string together a few wins, especially after that brutal loss last Saturday. They get the week of practice and go to Oshkosh on Sat. no such thing as an easy win, but it's not a bad place to start.
