I only watched a very small part of the Women's Selection show as Point was picked right at the beginning....but did I hear that correctly in that Point women are hosting the 1st and 2nd weekends?  That means the men won't be hosting for sure then?  I thought they had a decent shot at hosting the second weekend.

No, I heard it wrong....they must have said the first 2 rounds...not the first two weekends

River Falls gave everything St Thomas wanted at St Thomas earlier this year.  I can easily see an all WIAC 3rd round matchup.

Though the players are the same River Falls seems to be playing like a totally different team now.  I hope they can get back on track and go deep into the post season.

Yes, River Falls has been struggling lately...I still think they are a dangerous team, which I bet St. Thomas didn't want to see them in their pod.

And yes, River Falls did compete and beat Point in River Falls earlier this year.  However, playing at Quandt is a completely different animal.  Point has been getting better and better over the course of the year, which bodes well for them in the tourney.

Greek Tragedy

If memory serves me correctly, Jerrel Harris was listed 3rd, meaning he got 3rd in the POTY voting.  Great job.

I'm shocked by Krull's 1st team selection over Flanigan.  Must have been how the teams ended up in the standings.  Don't get me wrong, I like Krull and he seems to be "Mr. Hustle", but Oshkosh is horrible without Flanigan.

Nick Krull is very arguably the best defender of the last decade... and he has to rank up there with the best that have ever worn the purple and gold jersey.  His impact in games doesn't show up on the stat sheet the same way it does for Krull or Harris... but Stevens Point isn't 24-3 if Nick Krull isn't on the team.  The argument can be viably made that, of all the seniors that Stevens Point is losing after this season, the loss of Nick will be the biggest.

Let's just hope they've still got several weeks left to continue to leave their mark on the program!

Easily, easily?   ::)  ??? You do realize posters from other boards read other boards? You might want to tell that to Illinois Wesleyan. Perhaps you forgot, or you didn't know that they were ranked 4th in the D3Hoops preseason poll.

On the other hand, isn't this the same River Falls team that just lost 5 of their last 6 games, & just got throttled by Stevens Point in the WIAC championship game by 23 points?  Mebbe you drank too much at Tiffany's the last time you were in St. Paul back in December.  ;)  Remember I told you to go to Groveland Tap instead.

Not only are you looking past a very dangerous foe, Illinois Wesleyan, in the first round, you're also looking past a potential 2nd round match against a team who could be playing on their own home court.  Granted, UST has yet to play their first round game match, but I can guarantee you, they're not looking past anyone, not even Northwestern.

PS, & Old School, while I love the confidence, you might want to tell the newbie to tone down the bulletin board material. ::) ;)

WOW, finally it wasnt my choice of words that got turned around and twisted!! lol  :D ;D

Some people need to learn to read between the lines when it comes to typed responses.  ::) Of course he didnt mean that it was "easily gonna happen." He just meant that he could see it and wouldnt be all that surprised.

What exactly got twisted?  Did I misquote him - not at all.

And don't get me wrong, I like RF & I typically get over to River Falls & Stout 2-3 times a year. I've seen Aaron Anderson play since HS, & Stout's Eric Hosttetter & Jontae Koonkaew since travelling ball & AAU days.

But Tomt' comments were very bold & as he "easily can see a 3rd round WIAC matchup"  I seriously doubt it's going to happen. IMO, I'd rate IL Wesleyan & UST as even for advancing out of this weekend's opening rounds.

Yeah but with Stevens Point isnt the one seed just because the women get to the host the first round this year...

You can still be the so-called #1 seed in a pod that you don't host.

Then like you said earlier, SP should be playing Luther.

I dont know much about SNC, but from what I have gathered the WIAC got two tough draws in the opening round.  :-\ Well it will be a fun weekend!!  :)

Greek Tragedy

I'm pretty sure that's the same preseason poll that had Carthage ranked in the top 5 too!  ;D. I think this is one of the toughest regionals with IWU playing pretty well down the stretch and two other ranked opponents.  River Falls is not coming into this tournament on any kind of roll.  They've lost 5 of 6 but 4 have been on the road with three in a row to end the season.

If I were a Point fan, I might be worried as well.  Oh wait, I am a Point fan and I am worried.  St. Norbert is a very disciplined team that plays low scoring games.  Concordia can be easily overlooked because they are from the traditionally weak NATHCON, but they were ranked 1 or 2 in the midwest regionally rankings.

Its going to be a tough weekend for both WIAC teams.
