How'd the ticket situation end up?  Any more tickets avaiable?  I guess you'll have to wait until tomorrow or Friday.  Hope everyone that wants to make it can get tickets.  I will be there!

I would have to think that CUW may have tickets if Point sold their allotment (which I would assume they have).  The likely candidate to turn any in would be Luther for two-fold reasons... they've got the farthest distance to drive and they have the smallest average home crowd of the three traveling teams.

Interestingly, Point and SNC average the most (1419 and 863 respectively)... but the women's teams play on Friday too... so that for sure will take some of the Pointer support, as I'm sure that the Berg will be packed... but it will take some SNC support from the men too.  The distance is basically negligible... about 100 miles in either direction, so I could potentially see there being more SNC support for Pointer support.

And I'm not even trying to make it to the game Friday... when I saw the 5:30 start time, I knew I wouldn't be able to make it until after halftime...  I can be home by 5:30 to listen though, so I'll take that option and hope that I can make it up on Saturday!

Luther was alloted 333 tickets

Yes, but is "333" truly one word?

I don't have any River Falls friends if you don't count Fredfalcon (and most people don't) but my radio partner has lots of friends there so they should all tune in Sat. morning.  Last show of the year and we will talk to Jeff Berkof at 9:20.
Westen Wisconsin Sports Saturday On WMEQ 880 and Sports Radio WBIZ 1400.  We are also streamed.  WMEQ.com and click on "Listen Live".  8-10 Sat. morning.

I'm pretty sure that's the same preseason poll that had Carthage ranked in the top 5 too!  ;D. I think this is one of the toughest regionals with IWU playing pretty well down the stretch and two other ranked opponents.  River Falls is not coming into this tournament on any kind of roll.  They've lost 5 of 6 but 4 have been on the road with three in a row to end the season.

If I were a Point fan, I might be worried as well.  Oh wait, I am a Point fan and I am worried.  St. Norbert is a very disciplined team that plays low scoring games.  Concordia can be easily overlooked because they are from the traditionally weak NATHCON, but they were ranked 1 or 2 in the midwest regionally rankings.

Its going to be a tough weekend for both WIAC teams.

IWU was 6-5 down the stretch and lost by 24 on a neutral floor in the CCIW title game. Hardly playing pretty well, if you ask me.

UWRF

The UWRF allotment of 260 tickets was sold out in two hours this morning.

Two can play that game.  ;D

IWU was 6-3 in their last nine games including two overtime losses (one @ North Central), a big win against top 10 conference foe Augustana to make the CCIW tourney and then knocking off top seeded North Central on their home court before running out of gas in the Final, again against Augustana.  ;D ;) :D :)  so, they played the top 2 CCIW teams twice in five games.

I have heard from players on the team that a minimum of 3 and as many as 5 current Blugold underclassmen will not be returning next year...seems to be an every-year deal at EC...they had 1 sr this year in fofana and MAYBE 1 sr next year...tough to be competitive with those numbers

A friend from Illinois, Tom Hoder, a former coach at a high school in Itasca, Illinois, told me that IWU's point guard is out for the season with a concussion. He said his son, Matt Hoder, who started for IWU when they won the NCAA tourney (2004?) was very surprised they even got in. Tom Hoder says IWU is "decent" but said it should be RF by 5. Anyway, that's our bet.

And it won't be for any of the cheap beer stoutguy drinks. That's why he doesn't have any friends in RF, even if he does count me as one. I hope they're selling Rush River beer in Menomonie now so there's at least one good brand there. I doubt stoutguy has ever risen to that high a class of beer, preferring to stick with Point Beer and Fox Deluxe.

He also told me IWU did not sell all their tickets, so some will be on sale tomorrow.

IWU won it all in 1997 (which imo was not even one of their top 5 teams).  This IWU team is (except for the backup pg) the same team that went to the Elite 8 last year (beating, among others, #1 WashU in round 2, and CCIW champ Carthage in round 3).  They have been decimated by injuries, but their record is still a mystery to me.  My prediction is that they will beat UWRF, then upset the Tommies, meeting their 'Waterloo' against UWSP in round 3.

It does look bad for Travis Rosenkranz (the pg, out with a severe concussion), though officially his status is 'day to day'.

Since IWU is one of the best traveling teams in d3, I'm mildly surprised they couldn't sell their allotment of tickets, but St. Paul IS a long way from Bloomington!
