Per Wissports

Former New London standout Trevor Hass and former Fox Valley Lutheran standout Micah Parlow have decided to leave Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and enroll at UW-Stevens Point. Hass, a 6-4 guard, averaged 5.7 points and appeared in 26 games for Augustana last season. He will have three years of eligibility at Stevens Point. Parlow, a 6-6 forward, did not play at Augustana, a NCAA Division II school. He will have four years of eligibility at Stevens Point.

I am stoked to hear Trevor Hass is going to UWSP.  He will be a great addition to their team and help make up for some of the losses.  Great all around athlete.

Wow, sounds like Hass is a huge pickup for the Pointers and should be a major contributor instantly.  Parlow doesn't sound like any slouch either, plus Point needs some added size.  Great to hear but if all the people rumored to be leaving are leaving, they may still need another player or two that can contribute right away.

Point will do just fine.

I know that...but being a Point alum I sometimes worry, especially since I have some high expectations from being in the school during 2 National Championships and following a third from home.

You should be pretty excited for next year badgerwarhawk.  Whitewater should be filthy good with their recruiting class and what they have returning.  Good luck every game except 2 or 3 times a year.

Bringing Randall in was a bad move by Semling and I said so at the time. Two years ago, as soon as I saw they were holding a press conference to announce a Division III assistant coach, the red flags were more like tornado sirens.

Some of that may be true as Randall's deal, but my view on the other side of that coin is Point has always had to have more circus tents, bells and whistles than the others, simply because its Point.  <<insert puke here>>  ... don't get me wrong, I don't discredit their successes - they are great in number and quality.  But Point, above some of the other schools has the "anything you can do I can do better" flare to it.

Remember Semling was out interviewing for the UWGB job the year after Randall was hired.   Randall may have been brought on board to be Semling's successor.  UWSP's AD may have anticipated or even had conversations with Semling that he might be looking to leave.  Why not bring on an assistant who could step in after a year?

Randall was not Scott Anderson everyone knows he's a hea ier weight than that.

Rich Melzer, former UWRF star, just finished the playoffs in the Israel Premier League, playing for Hapoel Holon. He averaged over 27 ppg in four playoff games, though his team won only one of them. He finished the season leading his team in  scoring with 16.8 ppg. H.H. finished with an 11-16 record.

The second leading scorer was Kasib Powell, recruited for Bobby Knight's first Texas Tech team. He captained that team.

Earlier in the season, Melzer played a full schedule for an Australian team.

Wouldn't it seem more likely that Semling would be hiring his own assistant rather than the AD?  Perhaps they run it by the AD for approval but I kind of doubt it's the AD that is actually selecting and hiring the assistant.

I was not suggesting that the AD was doing the hiring but he may have had a firmer hand in the hiring process if he felt or maybe even had discussions with Semling that the possibility existed that he (Semling) might try and move on.

I'm sure no assistant mould have been hired if Semling did not feel comfortable with the move but basketball is THE #1 profile sport for UWSP.  It is the biggest money maker and if I were the AD I would have some involvement in aspects of the program such as this.

From what I heard over the weekend the only guy that's gone for sure is Harris which is obviously a huge blow.  If both Tillema's are playing and healthy Point will be fine.  Trevor Hass is going to be a huge addition for them as well as numerous other big time recruits.  Does anyone know if Cody Hanke has decided between Whitewater and Point and if he plans on playing basketball/baseball or both?  He would be a solid addition for Point.

Well he won't be helping Point's basketball team anytime soon....

He has yet to decide between Whitewater and Stevens Point, but he has decided on baseball being his sport of choice at the college level.

From Twitter. Appears UWEC is in no rush. Or the UW System red tape is holding them up.
