The kid from Augustana played only one year, 2009-10. He red shirted the year before, and did not play last year. He averaged less that two points per game. I'm not sure about his impact. But both have two years left and are eligible immediately.
I'd say the Thomforde kid has the accolades of a strong D3 player -- twice All-Lake Conference and played in the Minnesota All-Star series. Players that get picked for that tend to be pretty strong D3 players.

Obviously Palmer is a huge "get" for Coach Berkhof. A bit undersized, his skill level is high and production is off the charts, as they say.

I'd have to think both players will make huge impacts for the Falcons this coming season, whether as starters or coming off the bench.

I've had a chance to see Thomforde play out of high school.  He was at an open gym with a local (twin cities) college team.  He was one of the best athletes on the floor.  He is quick and has hoops.  He didn't do a great job of taking care of the ball but I think he can score it in bunches if he gets in the right system.  He should be a contributor right away.
The Falcons played in the college league over at bloomington jefferson this summer.  I saw them play once.  Does anyone know how they did?  I talked to coach Berkhof afterward and he's excited about his team this year.  They looked pretty good in the game I saw.
Any predictions on how they'll finish?

Go to http://www.uwrfsports.com/news/2011/8/17/MBB_0817113948.aspx for info on two transfers to Falcon bb program. One, the second leading scorer and best free thrower in the MIAC last season, averaging almost 18 a game, should be significant.

Will both of those guys have Junior eligibility FF?

They both look like they may be impact players.

If Shane Manor & Chris Palmer can play together, they could do good things next season.  They're both similar in size 6-4 to 6-6ish, & tremendous athletes.  You WIACERs will have a treat watching Palmer; he's got a big heart, motor, a bit of a hothead, and skills. You'll love him if you're a Falcon fan & he will annoy you if you're not.

I hope UWRF continues to do their webcasts this year... there were a few games they did, more that they didn't last year... but they should be fun to watch, like you said.

The one game that I saw UW-RF in the Bloomington league they beat I believe  a Carleton team in the last minute.  Looked like a lot of 6'4 to 6'6 guys who were pretty athletic.

Don't forget that River Falls should also return 6'8" Center Wade Guerin, who missed the 2010-11 season due to injury.  He was an Honorable Mention All WIAC selection in 2009-10.
2008-09 and 2012-13 WIAC Fantasy League Champion

2008-09 WIAC Pick'Em Tri-Champion

Chris Palmer is not a hot head.  He plays HARD.  Somewhere along the way, people have mistaken this for him being tempermental on the court.

Really-old old timers  ;) here may remember this Blugold 6'8" power forward, who will be inducted into the UWEC HOF this fall = Bob Coenen, from De Pere High School, at UWEC from 1979-82... Those were the good old days, when the 'Golds were 109-22 overall, 54-8 in conference play, and made two NAIA Final Four appearances...

The team captain senior year, he played in a school third best 127 games in his career, with 10+ ppg and 8+ rpg...

Is there anyone else in the conference who does NOT stream their home games?

Point, La Crosse, Oshkosh (though they may have an option to buy access), Whitewater (available on the local channel on tape delay, maybe? also maybe an option to buy access).

River Falls has had it (if only occasionally... it's student run and they don't do it if they don't have the manpower), Eau Claire has it intermittenly (they stream multiple different sports, so there's a chance you'll get a hockey game instead of basketball), Superior has video (but no live stats), Stout has it, and now Platteville has it.

Point has only ever done it for the NCAA games two years ago, run by D3hoops.

Thanks for the info.  I'm surprised that such a great conference doesn't universally stream all the games in a iphone tech-savvy society.  I'll just have to come to all the Point home games.

BoBo

All UWW mens games are streamed online w/o a fee. They re also available in the local area on cable TV in real time, not taped delayed.
