Stevens Point   Jordan Lutz-Amherst, Austin Ryf-Winneconne, Joe Ritchay-Wisconsin Rapids, Tyler Forsythe-Northwestern, Alex Richard-River Valley, Alex Van Handel-Appleton North, Nick Kacala-Kaukauna, Augustana Transfer Trevor Hass and conflicting reports with Micah Parlow....also heard that Cody Hanke of Marathon was going to play baseball and also try to play basketball, anyone confirm this??

Oshkosh   Jordan Penn-Wausau West, Brody Hurtis-Marathon
I was told Hanke was only playing baseball, although that may have changed since the summer.

Other than the two players listed above and New Berlin Eisenhower's 6'6" Chad Mathwig, Oshkosh appears to have gone the transfer route this season.  I have heard reports that former Oshkosh West standout Trey Demler has traded in his football scholarship from North Dakota to come back home and play basketball.  In addition to Demler, I have heard of a possible transfer from both Northern Michigan and Texas A&M International.

Good info cubs, I appreciate it.  It will be interesting to hear about the potential transfers to Oshkosh, it looks like they have added some talent and will really improve this year.

As far as Hanke goes, I watched him play at the state tournament this past year and he was extremely impressive.  In fact, Hanke seems to have a higher ceiling than a couple guys in Point's Basketball recruiting class.  With that said, the lack of pitching the Point baseball team returns this year they will probably need him more.  As a guy that was recruited to play multiple sports in college, I think it's a smart decision to concentrate on one.  College athletes get little enough free time without trying to pull double duty.
Ok, first of all let me preface this by apologizing....  I must have been half asleep last night when I replied....  I made SO MANY mistakes in my post that I want to crawl into a hole right now....

1.  Mathwig is from New Berlin West, not Eisenhower....
2.  Demler transferred to play BASEBALL, not basketball
3.  The kid from Northern Michigan, chose to stay in the UP and not transfer....
4.  The kid from Texas is likely sitting out this season, and playing next season....

Talk about feeling like an idiot!!!!

I can give some new information and feel pretty confident about it....
-Both Brian Washington and TJ Kellner have both left the Oshkosh program.  It sounds as if they both left school as well.
-Antone Byrd has left the Whitewater program.  Care to confirm badgerwarhawk?

Again guys I apologize!!!!   :-[ :-[ :-[

No worries cubs....Last night I noticed the mistake on Mathwig but I wasn't going to point it out as it seemed petty and you were close enough.

As for the rest of that post, WOW!!!  Those are some big hits to the Oshkosh program and now their newcomers are really going to have to step up.

With Byrd, that's also a huge blow.  I have known that Byrd has had some off the court problems in the past, but that's what I thought they were when he got to Whitewater, in the past!!  Whitewater still has an extremely talented team but Byrd was a big offensive threat for them.  Do you know what the deal is here BadgerWarhawk???

I heard Byrd is attending school in Ohio. Central State is the university I was told, but I haven't heard of it.

That is the same school that I heard about, so maybe there is substance behind it.  From what I was told, it's an Independent NCAA Division II school.

EDIT:  If you take a trip to their website, you will see Byrd's name already listed on the roster.

Good, I'm glad to hear he is still in school and playing basketball somewhere.  Anybody know what caused his transfer from Whitewater??

I can confirm Bryd is gone.  It was a mixed bag with him.  Don't know the details exactly.

My unbeaten season prediction was obviously based on Whitewater having Bryd.  What a huge blow!!

Yep, he looks like a pretty good pick up.  I'm not sure how much recruiting he did at George Mason, but they've had some pretty highly touted recruiting classes...  And having him be at Northern Illinois will likely be good for recruiting in the Chicago area too.

He's a Wisconsin native who went to Carthage, so he knows about the history at Point... I'm pretty happy with what I've read thus far!

By the way... there was another story on UWSP's site today about radio broadcasts... it looks like the men are going to be on News-Talk 1010 this year... instead of B104.9, where they've been for at least the last decade.  Story

I'm kind of out of the loop with things around town... anybody in Point have any light they can shed on the switch?  It's still Muzzy Broadcasting and still Krueger and Zellmer... just on the AM instead of PM.  Er... FM...  And it will still be broadcast on the web as well
