Why is Oshkosh playing Platteville on Saturday instead of Wednesday like everyone else?  Do they think they're special?  :P I'm pretty sure they did that last year and maybe the year before.  What's going on over there, cubs?
I think it has to do with their finals schedule... I think they have finals this week and can't or won't play a game during the week.

Or something like that.
I know PS is right and Oshkosh has finals this week, however if that is the reason the game is switched to Saturday I do not know.  I know Graduation os held upstairs in Kolf, so that may be a reason as well.

I will see what I can find out...

UWSP's road doesn't get much easier... Wednesday they host now-#13 Whitewater tomorrow (25 game home winning streak and 12 game WIAC winning streak on the line... home winning streak might be the longest currently in the country), then they go to Edgewood, who is undefeated and the top ORV team in the country, then they host #14 St. Thomas next Thursday.

Interestingly, UWRF's stock has fallen even more... they had 17 points in the poll and after another win, drop to just 8 (though it was a double OT victory at Oshkosh).

I think the tough schedule only helps this young team for the long road of the regular season.  Go Point!

I agree.

FWIW... in the most recent Massey ratings, Whitewater is #1, Edgewood is #9, and St. Thomas is #8.  UWSP is #12... and yet, they're favored in each of the games coming up.

They're a 2 point favorite against WW, a 3 point favorite against Edgewood, and a 6 point favorite against St. Thomas.

Contrast that with the "D3basketball index" (Link) where WW is #19 and Point is #21... and WW is a 3 point favorite.

At the very least, it should make for some very exciting games!

I would probably be more surprised to see Point win all three than lose all three.  They are very capable of doing either.

Actually, my system has WW ranked #3 and Point ranked #10.  I think the confusion comes from my "predictions" page that is taken straight from the D3Hoops scoreboard so it has the current D3Hoops ranking.  I'll add something to clarify that on the website.

Ah, I see it now.

For those of you keeping score at home, St. Thomas is #24 and Edgewood is #26

Part of what threw me off is that those are last week's rankings... Point is now #25 and Whitewater is #13.

Sorry, I just pull each day's schedule into my program in the morning and then use that schedule online.  I actually didn't realize that the new rankings weren't updated yet on the schedule page.  Maybe I'll just take the numbers out entirely.

UWSP beats UWW 79-77 in a game that will have an eye-popping box score.

Davis (WW) scores 41, missing his school record by 2.

D. Tillema (SP) scores 35, missing his school record by 5.

UWSP shoots 67.5%.

Whitewater had three shots in the final minute to tie or take the lead, but didn't hit.

I tuned in with 3 minutes left of WW v. UWSP.  I hate Quandt.  We were down 7 or 8 with 3 min. remaining.  Come back and the Davis boxscore should be insane.  But we always seem to lose there.

Nothing exciting to report on the RF/Stout game tonight.  Close early with RF pulling away before the half and increasing the lead throughout the second half.  Stout's shooting was really bad.  Many missed shots from close range.  Maybe it was an off night, but if not, they will really struggle this year.  Very young team with only 3 juniors and no seniors on the roster.

RF gets 17 pts 8 rebs from Guerin and 14 a piece from Manor and White.  RF bench outscores Stout's 33-9.  Other than a couple dunks, it was not an exciting game.

Stevens Point has won 6 of the last 7 match-ups against Whitewater in the Quandt...

But if you go back to the '96-'97 season forward, Point has won just 12/19 (63%... or 37% for Whitewater)

Compare that with an overall home record of 196-29 during that stretch and 184-22 in all games not against Whitewater.  Overall it's an 87% win clip... 89% when you take away Whitewater.

Whitewater can complain all they want about the Quandt... but the argument can be made that SP has been downright hospitable to the Warhawks compared to other opponents when in Stevens Point!

Drake   Palmer--Ethan Thomforde quit the Falcon team, I was told at the game tonight. The quote from the guy who told me was that he "wasn't having any fun."

The Falcons were not especially sharp tonight, but didn't have to be. Stout started one junior, 3 sophomores, and a freshman. It's tough to win with that young a lineup.
