Pretty clean game too... 2 TO's for Point a 5 TO's for RF

RF is leading the rebounding battle by 3 to go back to my earlier point... they have 7 offensive boards compared to 14 defensively for Point.  33% of the rebounds are going to RF... and still Point leads by 10.

RF is considerably bigger than Point, so we'll have to see what happens as the game goes on.

I lose internet connectivity for much of the second half... and suddenly just got it back.

I'm almost glad I didn't get to see/hear it.

UWRF outrebounded Point 44-26... so RF was +15 in the second half on the boards.

RF had 16 offensive boards vs. 20 for Point...  So, in the second half, Point has 6 defensive boards and RF had 9 offensive boards.  That just flat out stinks.

I think that RF started to hit some more shots... and Point cooled off... SP was 50% at the half and 41% in the second half... so that had some to do with it too...

So much for everything I said earlier about having good rebounding guards... but RF is big... they've got a bunch of guys who are 6'7" or 6'8" and have two of 'em on the floor at a time.

It was a tale of two halves in RF tonight.  Point dominated the first half...then they were manhandled on the boards in the second half and Dan Tillema decided to just continue to jack up crappy shots.  It was anemic offense the entire second half, really hard to watch.  Kudos to RF for playing a better 2nd half then Point played a first half.

Falcons04

Adding in a few other thoughts from the RF/Point game tonight:
- RF was able to finally get some stops when the Tillema's both went out early in the second half with 3 fouls and that allowed them back in the game once they started making shots
- A big key for RF was playing Brian Kimble for 6 minutes in the first half with 2 fouls and being able to keep him from getting the third.  He went out briefly and Tyler T got in the lane and scored on about 4 straight possessions.  Kimble does a great job running the team and his energy was a big part of the come back.
- Wade Guerin did not start the second half and only came in for a minute or so.  Not sure what happened but I noticed him with the trainer on the bench.  Zach Peterson played very well in his place with totals of 28 minutes, 10 pts and 9 rebs.  All well above his averages
- As the rebounding stats showed, RF had great energy in the second half.  They willed themselves back into the game at the same time Point seemed to force some shots.
- Point has 3 or 4 guys willing to shoot but the others seemed really hesitant

Great win for RF with a tough trip to WW on Satuday.  I'm interested to see if they can sustain the energy they had in the second half.

one unknown: Wade Guerin had the flu day b4 the Point game, and was not xpected to start. He started, but was not healthy, and was not effective, so Zach Taylor, sub post guy, came in and was terrific--possibly the difference in the game.

The Tilemmas were very good. If they had not been in foul trouble second half, the result may have been different.

Gio had a nice game.  I didn't see the game only listened to it but it seemed like RF made some adjustments at halftime and SP may have come out a little flat.  I agree with the others that being out rebounded by almost 2 to 1 is just not acceptable.  In fact, that seemed to be a constant theme of the radio announcer.  JB and Richards accounted for 4 total rebounds.  We need to have better control of the glass.  Not much bench production either.  Our lack of size hurt us as RF seemed to take advantage of Richard's lack of size.  Disappointing loss.  On to Saturday and a fresh start.

The WARHAWKS rolled past Edgewood 79-51.  EC had some leads early in the first half but the WARHAWKS went ahead after about four and a half minutes had been played and with the exception of a pair of ties maintained a lead for the remainder of the half.  The last tie was 20-20 with eight and half minutes left before the WARHAWKS made a 7-0 run gradually building the lead to ten points 36-26 when the half ended.  Both teams shot well in the first half (WW: 52%, EC: 55%) but the difference was a twelve point advantage off of turnovers, a 14-8 rebound advantage and 4 made free throws to 2.   EC cut the lead to nine points early in the second half but the WARHAWKS responded and after five minutes of play it had grown to nineteen points.  The lead was never less than twenty points in final six minutes of the game.

The WARHAWKS shooting percentage improved slightly in the second half (54%) while EC's dropped considerably (35%).  WARHAWK advantages in shots (55 to 46), turnovers (7 to 19) and three-point baskets (8 to 4) were factors in the outcome.  Chris Davis had team highs with 18 points and 8 rebounds.  Lucas Burns had his best game of the season with 17 points.  Quardell Young and Luke Knoble each had 11 points and Young added a game high 7 assists and 3 steals.  The WARHAWK bench outscored Edgewood's 31-14.

For Edgewood Kent Faurote scored slightly above his 17.9 average with 19 points.  He's a really nice player.  Defensively the WARHAWKS held Ben Wisniewski (17.9 average) to just 9 points.

Unfortunately I did get to see it. The last 16 minutes of the game was a comedy (but not at all funny) of errors by Point. Late switches on D, no blocking out on rebounds, poor shot selection, forced shots, missed easy layups, you name it, it was there. Once the two Tillemas went out with foul trouble at that point in the game, RF made a comeback and Point was unable to stop it. DT forced some awful shots trying to get calls from the refs, JB again missed easy lay in attempts and they were out rebounded 25-8 in the 2nd half.  :-[ :-[ :-[

With their size RF is going to out rebound a lot of teams.

I'll agree that size can matter on the boards but I believe position and hustle are the most important.  Often the best rebounder on the team is not the tallest but the one in the best position and hustle.  Apparently both were missing the other night for Point.

Havent seen the Falcons play this year (and its killing me) but it seems that Manor has taken his play to another level. Just based on what i've seen of highlights and box scores.

Anyone have any comments on this?

From watching games last year and this year, it seems that Berkhof is really depending on Manor on the offensive end more this year than last year.  The 2 live games I've seen of RF this year I have seen that the offense looks to be designed to get Manor post touches or get him the ball coming around on curls where he's driving towards the hoop.  This was also in their offense plenty last year, it's just a lot more prevalent this year.  On top of that, you can tell that Manor has just improved as a player and with his athleticism, he will always be tough to stop.  His only knock that I can tell is shooting the ball.  He can hit some shots but isn't very consistent in that area.  He can also struggle at the free throw line a little bit.

Any word on ECs Andy Kleist?  Is he hurt?  How bad?

Also, is STs Ragland still on the team?
