No definite details yet for the times in RF on Friday, but from what I've heard the games will be split session and the gym cleared in between.  Not sure how well Wheaton and Edgewood will travel, but I expect a large following from GAC.  One other factor for RF is the women made it in and play at St. Thomas on Friday, and boys HS regional play starts the same night with RF going to Menomonie.  Probably won't affect the crowd too much, but will thin out some from RF that would normally be there.

I'm a bit worried about Karges' ability to get people in and out with any efficiency, but I'm very excited to have the Falcons at home.

I went to the 1st weekend games at Lawrence when they were undefeated.  The "Alex" is probably just as small, though they had more bleachers added...they cleared out the gym and it was a mess.  We were there for the 1st game and we got cleared out.  We had to go to the end of the line, by the street, just to get back in.  It was a pain in the butt, but sometimes you have to do that with small gyms.  Quandt did that as well, and again, it's a pain, but it guaranteed most Pointer fans were able to see the game!

I would be shocked if Whitewater sold out.  Several years ago, Whitewater hosted Carroll U and IWU, along with DePauw.  Carroll is located in very near Waukesha and IWU is one of the best traveling teams in basketball.  Needless to say, there were still plenty of tickets available.

The WIAC website showed 2500 for the Whitewater vs. DePauw game (with Carroll and IWU playing the 1st game of the night), then just 1750 for the championship game of the "regional".  That's pretty bad, IMO.

We're the defending D3 national football champions and we struggle with attendance at Perkins Stadium... Kachel, doesn't surprise me... BTW, you were right on UW-W hosting:)

Did anyone see Edgewood play UWS, UWSP or UWW this year?  I see they beat UWS early in the season but were handled by double digits against the others.  Any insight on what to expect?  I see their roster doesn't have much size, which seems to play right into RF's hands with Manor, Guerin and White likely being the biggest players on the court for either team.

Faurote and Wisniewski have been getting the most attention in terms of scoring. Edgewood's got several players who like to shoot 3s.  Faurote had a big 2nd half in the NAthCon Championship game against Lakeland.

Edgewood has very good guard play. They can score in spurts and they have the ability to hit big shots.

That said, they don't have much of an inside presence... Stevens Point out rebounded them by 10 boards... and we all know how Point got outrebounded at times during the year by bigger squads.

That was just out of seeing the vid from back in December... things may have changed since then, I'm not sure.

I think that, especially with the way that RF is playing and b/c they'll be at home, they'll win the opener going away.

I think Wheaton is a good squad... they only lost to Hope by 1 and though they took some licks in the CCIW, I think they're a pretty balanced team.

I don't know how deep they are... that's sort of been the thing with Wheaton teams in the past... but they certainly do have some star power in Tim McCrary.  He's averaging better than 18 ppg and would be a great game should Wheaton and RF meet.

Having seen Edgewood play once in person and 2 or 3 times on the web though I suppose anything is possible I'll be surprised if River Falls doesn't beat Edgewood fairly handily.  Edgewood won't be able to match up with them particularly in the post and Edgewood doesn't have anyone nearly as quick at Kimble.

I've heard UWRF has no videocast? Can that possibly be for NCAA Tournament games in 2012? Also, the rumor is that they are only audio streaming their own games. If that's true, that's not exactly being a helpful host.

When I read the UWRF website regarding their process for distributing tickets for this Friday's games, I got a little nervous so I called over there to get the scoop.  Here's what I found out.

Karges (?) Gym seats approximately 1,800 people.  They are reserving 745 tickets apiece for Gustavus and Wheaton, which leaves 350 tickets for the general public. Tickets will go sale Wednesday morning at 8:00AM. I've got to believe the Gusties will come close to using up all of their allotment, but I'm not so certain about the Sonic Air Disturbance aka Wheaton Thunder.   Sensei  - how well do the Thunder travel?

For the second half of the double header, Edgewood & UWRF game, Edgewood will receive approximately 500 tickets while River Falls will get close to 1,000.  Separate ticket purchases will be required if one wanted to watch both games.  Tix are 8.00.

With a potential major storm moving through the Minneapolis-St Paul & western Wisconsin area tonight, I'm not sure if I want to take a long lunch to drive over to River Falls to pick up tickets on Wednesday.  I'd think one could almost walk up and buy tickets on Friday afternoon. Thoughts?

UWRF has a videocast... the one they have embedded in their page doesn't work, you have to click through to the justin.tv host site itself.  I can't get the UWRF site to work from work... otherwise I'd send a link.

I can only speak for myself and no longer WRFW... but of course they are only doing their own games. The women's team plays at 5:30, I would imagine they'll do that one too. (Its what I would have done) And plus they can't really rely on the St. Thomas to cover the womens game. Ive called three games at UST and their webcast was down for a majority of two of the broadcasts.

Also, I know PointSpecial has said the link of the website doesn't work, but I haven't had any problems with it this year.

I would expect an NCAA Tournament host to broadcast all games they are hosting. I don't think that's unreasonable at all. That's what being a host is.

UWRF

They have a responsibility to UWRF's womens team as well.

I have a feeling (dont know for sure) that Channel 19 (justin.tv) will use the WRFW crew thats calling the Falcon mens game to provide pbp for the Wheaton/GAC game. My best guess is that it will be on the video link, but the womens game will be streamed on WRFW.

Just tried to get tickets for the Pointer game at Hope. They weren't in yet but she said we were getting our full allotment of 200 for the game. She believed the Hope gym was small. I thought tickets were allotted per the NCAA handbook at 1/2 to the home team and the remaining half split evenly among the other three teams. Left over tickets are then returned to the home team. DeVos Fieldhouse only seats 1200 ?? (I know it seats 3400 or so, just being facetious :P)
