HERE is a look at Wheaton's roster, with a link to stats and such.

Looks like they are a very experienced team starting 4 seniors.  Two big guys in McCrary (6-6) and Schultze (6-6) lead the way, with Pflederer (66 3s) and Garriott shooting from outside.  They were 2nd in the very tough CCIW.  It's going to be a real tough game for the Warhawks.

I'm really interested in seeing VWC's duo of DJ Woodmore and Donald Vaughn.  Let's not forget Whitworth as well.

It should be a great sectional.

I was at the UW-W V S game last night GT and there was about 775 paid attendance...

Garriott is much more dangerous off the dribble than he is from beyond the arc. He's similar to former Wheaton great Kent Raymond in that respect. He has a fantastic burst, a great crossover, great body control, and he's strong enough to finish in spite of mid-air contact from a big. And you probably shouldn't put McCrary and Schultze next to each other like that, as if they're equivalent. Schultze is a solid, workmanlike center who can do a lot of things well but isn't really a take-over-the-game type of player. McCrary is. He'll be a first- or second-team All-American this season. He's one of the two or three best passers of all the big men I've ever seen on the D3 level, and I say that as someone who has been watching D3 ball for over thirty years. He can beat you with a wide array of moves around the basket, and he's a very strong face-up shooter out to about 15-16 feet. He'll be a bear for the Warhawks to have to stop -- just as Wheaton is going to have a really difficult time stopping Chris Davis.

It should be a great game.

If they think Virginia Wesleyan is THAT MUCH MORE deserving over Whitewater, they'll eat the extra flight and make all three fly to Virginia.  It happened when they sent 3 flights to Puget Sound during Point's first title run even though Lawrence was an hour away from Point.  I gotta believe Whitewater has a 50-50 shot.

That was a facility issue. The NCAA didn't want to put a sectional in Lawrence's small gym that year. (They relented in a later year and cleared the gym between games, a tactic that has become more commonplace since.)

True enough.  My initial thought was that UWSP could've hosted, but the women hosted, so the men couldn't (2003-2004).  I'm also trying to remember when Lawrence installed the extra bleachers behind one of the baskets.  They were there in 2005/2006 when they had an undefeated regular season.

The following year after the trip out to Puget Sound, 2004-2005, Lawrence went to GAC and upset them on a Thursday and then had to travel to Quandt on Saturday where the infamous (we were treated like ****) incident happened while Point went on to Championship #2.

This was also the event that spawned the alternating hosting priorities rule that we have now. Both the men's and women's committees wanted UWSP to host. UWSP refused to choose between their two teams and insisted they could host both tournament simultaneously. The committees considered it, but decided that it couldn't (or shouldn't) be done. So the committees eventually settled on comparing the seeding of the women's team in their section of the bracket against the seeding of them men's team in their bracket. The UWSP women were a higher seed so they hosted. First and likely only time I'll ever hear of a men's team seed being compared to seed of a women's team from the same school. It was bizarre.
