As a Cabrin alumnus whose team lost to Eau-Claire 26 years ago in the NAIA tournament I can safely say that the best team from the BEST DIII conference won. Congratulations UW-Whitewater you earned it

NOW, research questions, how many BB coaches, any level, have won NC's as player and coach.  Also, how schools, any level, have won NC's in football and basketball in the same school year?

UW-Whitewater is the first school in D III history to win the men's basketball and football national championship in one year.

Congratulations to Chris Davis for being named D III Player of the Year and Pat Miller D III  Coach of the Year!

It truly has been a memorable season!!

FYI - I believe Florida is the only other school in NCAA history -- any division, to win football and men's basketball championship in the same academic year (2006).

I'm really happy for Pat Miller.  Now Leipold, Vodenlich, and Miller all with championships. Impressive.

According to Sports Information Director Tom Fick, Florida and Tennessee won national titles in basketball and football. UT did it with its women's team.

UW-Whitewater becomes the first school in Division III history to win the national football championship and a basketball (men or women) title in the same year.  The University of Florida (2006) is the only school in NCAA history -- any Division, to win football and men's basketball championship.  The University of Tennessee won FBS and women's basketball titles in 1998.

The above copy and paste is from todays D3 writeup of tonights game..

Women's softball or basketball would be my first guess.
